According to the EPA, most Americans spend up to 90% of their time indoors. No BRS-2 120x120wonder people are concerned with the quality of the air we breathe when inside buildings. Pollution levels are often higher indoors than outside. The EPA estimates that the indoor levels of many pollutants are 2-5 times higher, and on occasion, 100 times higher than outdoor levels. Because of this, the EPA ranks indoor air as one of the top five environmental threats to human health.  Where do all these contaminants come from?

Ronald McDonald House Still Working to Clean up Mold Problem

by Matt Barbour, Reporter - WRCBtv.com

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)- A local organization is working hard to get back on its feet. About a month ago, the Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga was shut down after mold was discovered in the home.

The house was forced to shut down in August when mold was discovered in four rooms at the home. Ever since then the house has dipped into its emergency funds to start the clean up process.

In the meantime, they are still asking the public to step in and help. Some of that help is coming from the annual 'Autumn Children's Festival.'

Two military families say they've been compensated for damaged furniture and moved to new housing because of mold problems in their military homes in Aliamanu. Raquel Garcia, whose husband is a staff sergeant in the Army, told the Star Advertiser that Island Palm Communities, the partnership between Lend Lease and the Army managing the Aliamanu homes, paid her $18,500 for damage to furniture caused by the mold in a duplex she lived in.

Nicole Aguilar, who lived in the other half of the duplex, said her home also had extensive mold problems.

Quote of the Week

In honor of Steve Jobs,

Apple Cofounder:

"It's not the date you were born, or the date you died, that really matters. It's "The Dash" between those years, and what you do with it, to make a difference with your life. If there is one "simple truth" I know it is that we only live once and we should experience life to the fullest. Spend time with friends and family, learn to sail, take a walk on a beautiful summer night, run that 5K you've been putting off, become your own boss, learn to paint, be the best at what you do ....whatever your dream is, start living it today because this is your "Dash" and you should live it to the fullest."
