That approach extends to their management of indoor air quality. About three years ago, the Florida hospital reacted to air quality concerns by recruiting expertise, in the form of Pure Air Control Services, Inc. "It's a big issue these days," hospital Director of Engineering said of indoor air quality. "Our approach has been, instead of waiting until we have a problem, of going out and making sure our equipment works well-to avoid problems."

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- The family of a child that was paralyzed after a DUI crash has suffered another setback after mold was found inside the walls of their rented Vista home.

 

After spending seven months at the hospital and finally getting to return home, the family of baby Izaiah Wallis suffered another hurdle after mold spores were found inside their home.

 

"It was an ongoing leak," said Izaiah's father, Jacob. "We didn't know how long it was going on for..."

Airborne Allergens Can Be Deadly

Washington, DC -- According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), asthma is characterized by inflammation of the air passages resulting in the temporary narrowing of the airways that transport air from the nose and mouth to the lungs. Asthma symptoms can be caused by allergens or irritants that are inhaled into the lungs, resulting in inflamed, clogged and constricted airways. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, wheezing, coughing tightness in the chest. In severe cases, asthma can be deadly.SCK Allergen
 
· There is no cure for asthma, but asthma can be managed with proper prevention and treatment.
· Asthma has a genetic component. If only one parent has asthma, chances are 1 in 3 that each child will have asthma. If both parents have asthma, it is much more likely (7 in 10) that their children will have asthma.
· More Americans than ever before say they are suffering from asthma. It is one of this country's most common and costly diseases.

As the Missouri River floodwaters recede health officials warn flood victims of potential health concerns. Thousands of area flood victims are anxiously waiting until recovery and cleanup efforts can begin. Typically, tons of fertilizer from fields, farm animals, chemicals, will have been washed into flooded homes and businesses causing significant health concerns. Even the most solidly built and well-maintained building can be damaged by a violent force of nature, such as a flood, hurricane, tornado, or wildfire.

CityCenter woes just keep piling up.
 
Last week, MGM Resorts International said it would rather implode than finish the long-delayed Harmon hotel/condo development there, after it was determined not to be capable of withstanding an earthquake.
 
Now, the Associated Press reports that eight former guests of CityCenter's centerpiece Aria Resort & Casino are suing, saying they were exposed to Legionnaire's diseases during stays. The Las Vegas Sun, which wrote about the case when it was filed Tuesday in Las Vegas, says six of the plaintiffs say they later contracted Legionnaire's disease. The AP says the suit involves "three couples and two individuals from Arizona, California, Minnesota, Texas and Canada.
