AC Checkup Ends with Large Check to AC Company

TAMPA - Estelle Rodman's air conditioning trouble started with aIntimidated by IAQ pureair2 solicitation for a checkup. The 81 year old says World Class Heating and Cooling called to offer her a $29 checkup.  "For 29 dollars, how could I go wrong."

 

The service call ended with a bill for $4,044.00.

I checked with five different air conditioning companies, all of whom told me the same work should have run Estelle between $800 and $1400. "Materials and all added together probably $1000 -- $1200 tops.'  I showed Estelle's invoice to Francisco Aguirre with Pure Air. While Pure Air is not a direct competitor in that it does not sell AC units, it is a licensed and certified company that specializes in indoor air quality issues.

Mold Discovered in New Federal Courthouse

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - We're uncovering even more problems at the federal courthouse construction project in downtown Buffalo.

 

This is a story we first broke three weeks ago, and now officials are admitting for the first time they have found mold inside, and it may delay the project again.

Colo. Hospital Blew Whistle on Contaminated Wipes 

Spate of serious infections caused by rare bacteria sparked massive recall, investigation

It took fast-acting doctors at a Colorado hospital to flag problems with tainted alcohol wipes now tied to a massive recall and growing reports of potentially deadly infections, including the case of a 10-year-old boy already battling leukemia.Building-Science-3 

Medical experts at The Children's Hospital in Aurora said they became alarmed last fall when a few youngsters developed bloodstream infections caused by the rare bacteria Bacillus cereus.
