The ADA protects the rights of people with disabilities in all aspects of employment, in accessing public services such as transportation, and guaranteeing access to private establishments such as restaurants, stores, hotels and commercial buildings. Any graduate of Super Service Training, a training which provides participants information on how to provide excellent customer service, will respond by saying, "Everyone who I come into contact with". At RUSVM this would mean that professors, coworkers, students, parents, children, classmates, the man or woman in the street, or the person sitting next to you in class are all your customers. Spice Shack Opens on RUSVM Campus

RUSVM Boasts Six Newly Certified CPR Instructors
| RUSVM now boasts six American Heart Association (AHA) certified instructors who are qualified to be the first responders in any resuscitation emergency on campus after taking part in a three-day training course in the Heartsaver CPR AED. |More|

Dr. Donald Adams, joins RUSVM as professor of Anatomy. Adams will primarily teach veterinary gross anatomy to both semesters one and two.
Mr. Leon Byron joins RUSVM as a Maintenance Technician in the Facilities department. Byron has previous experience in the AC/Refrigeration field for local companies such as S. L. Horsfords, TDC and C&C Superfoods. He also worked with various companies in Afghanistan from 2006-2011.
Ms. Emily Cope joined the research department in April as a Technical Research Associate. Cope brings experience both in lab animal research and animal science to RUSVM.
Ms. Alana Hefter, who previously served as a Technical Research Associate, has now been promoted to Senior Technical Research Associate. Hefter joined the Research team in November 2011. Mr. Jonathan Peeler has been promoted to Director of Facilities. Peeler brings engineering experience in both mechanical and civil disciplines. He was previously the Senior Facilities Manager at RUSVM and has more than ten years experience in facilities management and engineering including work at a large University. In his new role, Peeler will be responsible for all units within the Facilities Department including Housekeeping, Construction, Maintenance, and Grounds.
Mr. Hakim Woodley has been promoted to Supervisor in the Safety & Security department. Woodley has been with RUSVM since November 2004. He is also a recipient of both the 2010 Pride and the 2009 Ron Taylor Awards. |

New Parking Zones, Stickers & Fines
RUSVM has taken steps to improve parking on campus by implementing a new parking permit system at the beginning of the May semester. As part of the new system, all members of the community must register their vehicle, display the parking sticker and park in the assigned zone. |More|

Triple R Ross Staff Association The Ross Staff Association (RSA), in an effort to show membership appreciation, has instituted a monthly Random RSA Raffle aka "Triple R." Each month an RSA member will be chosen, at random, and have a chance to win fabulous prizes.
The best part is that you don't have to do anything except be a RSA member!

Incident Report System
The Incident Report System provides individuals with direct access to current incidents as reported to campus security. The system is available via the Internet (on- and off-campus) with a RUSVM email account and password. Make it a habit to stay up-to-date.

License Plate Renewal Plates ending in "4" If the last digit of your auto license plate ends in a 4, you must renew your car registration by April 30, 2012. Therefore your car must be inspected and insurance coverage must be current prior to going to Inland Revenue. |

This month, the RUSVM Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA) presented its first ever Movie Under the Stars. Students took a little break from their studies, laid blankets on the lawn, grabbed some popcorn and enjoyed the movie Best in Show. Faculty and staff members also came out to enjoy the evening.
Faculty, staff and their families enjoyed an afternoon of fun, food and games at the spring semester's RUSVM's faculty and staff Family Fun Day. There was a bounce castle and entertainment for the kids, plus lots of races for those who are young at heart.
Congratulations to Ingrid Wolff who was awarded the Pfizer 2012 Veterinary Scholarship. Pfizer Animal Health and the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) continue their ongoing commitment to invest in the future of the veterinary profession through this program. Pfizer awarded $2,500 each to 331 second- and third-year veterinary students at accredited universities throughout the United States and the Caribbean.

Mr. Long Duong, Technology teacher at the RUSVM Preparatory School will be moving to Columbus, Ohio with his wife, who will be completing her clinical year at Ohio State University. Duong said of his time here "Living on St. Kitts and being part of RUSVM has been one of best times of my life." Thank you, Mr. Duong, for your service to RUSVM.
Ms. Jessica Heller, technical research associate in the Research department, left RUSVM in early April. Heller embarks on her next journey to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where her husband, Andrew, will undertake his clinical year at the University of Pennsylvania. Heller joined RUSVM in December 2010, just as we were preparing for the AVMA COE Accreditation site visit. She brought extensive legal experience and skills to the Research Department team. This contributed to precision skill sets required in data capture, record keeping and analyses for the AVMA COE standard. Thank you Ms. Heller for your commitment and dedication to RUSVM.
Ms. Heather Hodges, large animal technician, left RUSVM in early April. Thank you, Ms. Hodges, for your service to RUSVM. Ms. Hodges will be joining her husband for his clinical year in the United States. Dr. Robert Mason, associate dean of Clinical Programs, left RUSVM in April. RUSVM thanks Dr. Mason for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors. Ms. Jaclyn Moses, who has been the music and kindergarten teacher at the RUSVM Preparatory School for more than two years, will leave RUSVM at the end of April. In addition to teaching at the school, she also taught voice, piano and choir lessons. Moses stated that she will miss the people of RUSVM and St. Kitts communities most because of the unique blend of cultures and personalities that exist. She will be moving to Oregon with her husband as he completes his veterinary education at Oregon State University and will be looking for teaching opportunities there close to family. |
