Transition Ceremony Begins New Chapter for Seventh Semester Class

RUSVM class of 2013 On Thursday, December 8, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) held its eighth Transition Ceremony to celebrate the progress of its seventh semester students as they move forward to complete their clinical semesters. The ceremony symbolizes the transition that takes place as the students complete their didactic training in St. Kitts and begin their clinical training at one of twenty-three RUSVM affiliated AVMA-accredited U.S. veterinary schools. |More|

On November 3-4, the RUSVM Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA) hosted Lynne White-Shim, MS, DVM, assistant director of the Scientific Activities Division for the (American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). White-Shim gave two lectures to faculty and students, which provided information about the AVMA's One Health initiative and gave an introduction to her division of the AVMA. |More|

AVMA Conference - The Student Perspective

This summer I was able to attend the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Annual Conference in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. The conference was more than just a chance to see my family and enjoy some toasted ravioli--a local Italian favorite--but was also an incredible opportunity to learn about the latest updates in veterinary medicine and to network with students and professionals throughout the country. |More|

New RUSVM ID Cards
opening door with new ID Upon check-in/registration at the beginning of the semester (Monday, January 9), students will be issued new ID cards.  Students are required to bring the old ID card as it will be exchanged for these new cards, which will include January 2012 semester stickers and bar codes for library use. |More|

Congratulations to Dereka Thompson who has recently been promoted to the position of director of campus living. Previously, Dericka Thompson Thompson served as the assistant director of campus living.  So what's her secret? "I really do enjoy my job. I love working with the students and doing my part to enrich their experience at RUSVM; it's what I've always wanted to do." In her new role, Thompson will oversee all aspects of the campus housing operation, new student communications, welcome program and provide training and guidance for orientation leaders. Thompson will begin her new responsibilities immediately.

The Incident Report System provides individuals with direct access to current incidents as reported to campus security.  The system is available via the Internet (on- and off-campus) with a RUSVM email account and password.   Make it a habit to stay up-to-date.

Tanaca Browne joins RUSVM as mobile patrol specialist in the Safety and Security Department.
Browne has previous experience in security and has worked as a loss prevention supervisor. 



Burtland Carter

 

Burtland Carter joins RUSVM as maintenance technician in the Facilities Department. Carter has a variety of experience within the electrical field.



   Albert duPlessis
Albert du Plessis is the new director of safety and security at RUSVM.
He previously served as a consultant for the Department, and brings many years of experience in policing, security and management. Du Plessis begins his duties January 1.
 

        

 Kendal Hamilton 

 

Kendal Hamilton joins RUSVM as mobile patrol specialist in the Safety and Security Department. Hamilton brings experience in security having previously worked in a university setting.

 


Ozell Matthew

Ozell Matthew joins RUSVM as lab maintenance technician. Matthew comes from a technical background and will be based in Anatomy. 


       

 Kirtley Maynard 

 

Kirtley Maynard joins RUSVM as mobile patrol specialist in the Safety and Security Department. Maynard's background is in customer service.   

 

       
Javed Michael

Javed Michael joins RUSVM as mobile patrol specialist in the Safety and Security Department. Michael comes from a background in mechanical engineering.

   

 

 

Dwight Storrod 

 

Dwight Storrod joins RUSVM as mobile patrol specialist in the Safety and Security Department. Storrod has worked for a number of years in the teaching profession. 

  

       
Elroy Williams

Elroy Williams joins RUSVM as veterinary technician trainee in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Williams has worked as veterinary assistant for a number of years at a local veterinary clinic.

RUSVM would like to thank the following individual(s) for their service to the University and wish them well in their future endeavors.

Lynell Nolan will be retiring from his post as director of safety and security at the end of December after more than seven years of service. Thank you, Lynell Nolan, for your dedication and commitment to RUSVM. Nolan's leadership has developed the RUSVM security program in to one of the most professional and respected security departments in St. Kitts and Nevis today.

Denver Mike, project coordinator in the Facilities Department, will be leaving after more than six years of service. Thank you for your service to RUSVM.

Garry Lewis, A/C technician in the Facilities Department, will leave RUSVM at the end of December after seven years of service. Thank you for your service to the University.
