Employee Engagement Updates: Action Teams
| The employee engagement initiatives, dubbed "Conversations for Action: Stand Up and Be Counted," was held May 30 to June 2, 2011 on campus. During the week of meetings, more than 150 faculty and staff members participated in "open space" meetings. The conversations were vibrant, animated, respectful, extremely honest, heartfelt, sometimes very difficult and very hopeful. Josh Project Donates Kits to St. Kitts Hospital
By: Dana Cannon (6th Semester), SAVMA Senior Delegate | There was laughter and joyous cries coming from the Pediatric Ward in the St. Kitts Joseph Nathaniel France General Hospital this past May. The Josh and Friends Project was able to visit in order to give the children the long awaited "Josh Kits." A group of students from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine began a fundraising team for Josh and Friends a year ago. The team has been raising funds through coin fundraisers and a professor cook-off event to purchase the kits and two rocking chairs... |More|

held its annual Science Fair on Friday, June 3. Five research scientists from RUSVM served as judges who assigned points to research design, procedure, relevancy/impact, creativity/effort, and presentation. Each judge reviewed all 35 projects and the total score from the five judges for each project was used to determine first, second, third and fourth place. All students received a certificate of participation. |More|

The Facilities Workshop provides RUSVM with a team of painters, masons, carpenters and laborers. This shop undertakes the renovations of buildings and production of office cabinetry, as well as tiling and other woodwork across campus. The Facilities Workshop unit is comprised of the Renovations Team and Carpentry Team. |More|

Eastern Campus Entrance | Vehicles are not permitted to use the new eastern entrance to or exit from campus until an official opening is announced later this summer.
Departure Tax Increases | Beginning July 1 the departure tax on all persons leaving St. Kitts will be US $37 or EC $100. |

EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM Important communications for the campus community can range from weather incidents to public safety alerts to emergency notifications. The SIREN system is the official messaging system for communicating emergencies, however RUSVM will make every effort in communicating emergency situations through various communication outlets. Please Keep your Information Current It is the responsibility of all faculty, staff and students to keep their contact information, including an emergency contact person, current. PLEASE BE CERTAIN YOUR LOCAL CELL PHONE NUMBER IS PROVIDED IN THE APPROPRIATE FIELD. Students may update their personal profile at any time by accessing their account in myRoss. Faculty and staff may update their contact information by emailing the Student Services Supervisor (sehenry@rossvet.edu.kn). License Plate Renewal Plates ending in "6" If the last digit of your auto license plate ends in a 6, you must renew your car registration by June 30, 2011. Therefore your car must be inspected and insurance coverage must be current prior to going to Inland Revenue.
Incident Report System The Incident Report System provides individuals with direct access to current incidents as reported to campus security. The system is available via the Internet (on- and off-campus) with a RUSVM email account and password. Make it a habit to stay up-to-date. View the System

Thank you to the AVMA Group Health & Life Insurance Trust (GHLIT) Programs who presented a sponsorship check in support of the 2011 West Indies Veterinary Conference (WIVC). The WIVC will be held October 22-29 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. The check was presented to Interim Dean, Gil Burns, DVM, by Mark G. Dobson, HealthPlan Services and Blair Hollowell, DVM, representing the AVMA GHLIT, upon their recent visit to the St. Kitts campus.
 The Campus Operations Leadership Team managed by Hazarie Ramoutar, RUSVM Campus Administrator, attended a strategic planning session on May 20 and 21. The team consists of the leadership from the various campus operations departments, including Lynell Nolan (Safety/Security), Desiree McKoy (Purchasing), Sharita Chapman (Campus Administration), Joanne Walters (Human Resources), Alison Stewart (Finance) and Seamus Kelly (Facilities & Construction). The goal of the session, led by Kim Ramsey of The Executive Edge, Inc. was to create a vision for the team and to set strategic objectives for the next three years in relation to the RUSVM campus operations division. These objectives will be used to guide the goal setting for the individual departments for the coming year.
Way to Go! June 10-11, RUSVM Facilities Department hosted an Electrical Training course on campus. Four members of the RUSVM Facilities team attended the training, while the campus welcomed eight local electrical contractors for the course. Mr. Charles Miller of JADE Learning updated the class on the 2011 National Electric Code and taught the Standards for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. Mr. Miller presented the material with plenty of examples and illustrations, and gave references to the applicable electrical codes. Students were presented with training materials as well as a copy of the NEC 2011 Code Book and the National Fire Protection Association 70E Manual. RUSVM Facilities attendees included Anthony (Blade) Henry, Samuel James, Jonathan Peeler and Kino Williams. |
