| Ready for a New Sustainable Parking Space | |
RUSVM is in the midst of constructing a new car park area, which will include space for up to 450 vehicles. The space, scheduled for completion by the upcoming May semester, will house approximately 66% of the total number of cars parking at the School each day. The new space will feature sustainable materials. |More|

RUSVM's New Fish Lab
| Dr. Esteban Soto, RUSVM assistant professor of Bacteriology, has recently introduced an aqua animal laboratory to the campus. The new marine lab located below the campus Auditorium is home to approximately thirty aquariums where Soto and his team will be exploring bacterial diseases in tilapia and other warm-water fish species. |More|

AA Baggage Charges Change | As of February 10, 2011, AA will be charging customers $30 for second bag checked.
Cell Phone Law Enforcement | SK Traffic Department will begin enforcing the Cell Phone Law as of February 14, 2011, which prohibits handheld use while driving.
Electricity Increase in St. Kitts & Nevis | As of January 1, 2011, the electricity cost per Kilowatt-hour (KWH) will increase for domestic and commercial consumption.
SK Police Training on RUSVM Campus | RUSVM will serve as host to the SK Crime Unit for a Training Session February 21-25, 2011.

Are You Living Well? | The RUSVM Live Well Committee has started its fitness program for 2011 with a series of hikes.

Congratulations to Dr. Rolf Berg, professor of Anatomy, on his recent book publication, Atlas of Ultrasound Examination in the Horse (Atlas der Ultraschalluntersuchung beim Pferd). The book, which boasts a total of fifteen co-authors and took more than two years to produce, is currently published in German but future plans include an English translation. It presents all main areas of ultrasound in equine practice with images, photos and drawings. Berg has been a faculty member with RUSVM for more than twelve years.

Congratulations to Veronica Kelly who was presented a Ross University service award from Dr. David DeYoung, Dean and Mr. Hazarie Ramoutar, Campus Administrator. The award was presented in front of her colleagues during her retirement celebration on Monday, January 31st. Kelly worked for the University more than 13 years in the housekeeping department.
 Great News! Krista Keller, RUSVM graduate, was selected for a Companion Animal Zoological Medicine Residency at the University of California-Davis. Keller is currently a companion animal rotating intern at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She completed her clinical training at Tufts University in Massachusetts.
Elections for the Student Association of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SAAVMA) Executive Board was held on Monday, February 7.
The new Board members will officially take office during Week 13 of this semester. SAFETY & SECURITY TRAINING
RUSVM continues to improve it safety and security initiatives, on Thursday February 10, five new Safety & Security Officers, Shamica Phipps, Vernon Taylor, Sean Tyrell, Hudon McDonald and Jarmo Finch, completed two days of training for new security officers. An overview of expectations of the Safety & Security Officers was provided along with a discussion of key topics including: human resources, on- and off-campus living, accounting, facilities overview, Veterinary Teaching Hospital security, information technology and policies. The training provided a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Safety & Security Officers at RUSVM.

License Plate Renewal Plates ending in "2" If the last digit of your auto license plate ends in a 2, you must renew your car registration by February 28, 2011. Therefore your car must be inspected and insurance coverage must be current prior to going to Inland Revenue.
Incident Report System The Incident Report System provides individuals with direct access to current incidents as reported to campus security. The system is available via the Internet (on- and off-campus) with a RUSVM email account and password. Make it a habit to stay up-to-date. View the System

Jermaine Alexander joins RUSVM as the new IT Support Desk Administrator in the Information Technology Department. She has a background in customer service from her positions at Reed Data Services and the Marriott. Please welcome her as you call the IT support line.
Janet Beeler-Marfisi, DVM, DVSc, joins RUSVM as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology in the Pathobiology section. Beeler-Marfisi received her DVM from the University of Guelph in Ontario. She will be teaching in the 4th Semester Clinical Pathology course. |Beeler-Marfisi's Profile|

Jarmo Finch is a new member of the Safety and Security Department as a Campus Roving Patrol Officer.
Oscar Illanes, DVM, PhD, joins RUSVM as Professor of Anatomic Pathology in the Pathobiology section. He has research interests in neuropathology, infectious diseases and toxicologic pathology. Illanes will be lecturing 4th Semesters' Pathology II course. |Illanes' Profile|
