5th Semester Steals the Show @ Mr. RUSVM

Saturday, January 15th Ross University students gathered for an evening of festivities during the Mr. RUSVM pageant. The every-semester activity features a beauty pageant-like activity where male representatives of each class compete in various categories to win the coveted title of Mr. RUSVM. UVa Students Visit RUSVM
| Students from the University of Virginia (UVa) visited the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine's campus on January 8th as a part of the UVa's student study abroad program, "Disaster Preparedness in the West Indies." Twenty-four students and four faculty members toured the campus. This is the third time the group has visited RUSVM. |More|

Orientation and White Coat Ceremony Combine to Promote Professionalism
| On January 10 the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine's Class of 2014 marked the beginning of their veterinary education during the White Coat Ceremony. The ceremony was the culmination of the prior week's Orientation activities in which students participated in leadership and team-building tasks, which created the foundation for the White Coat event. |More|

 Michael Christian joins RUSVM as the new Deputy Director of Safety & Security. Christian brings more than twenty years of experience as a member of the St. Kitts & Nevis Defense Force. He also has a background in human resources and managerial experience with a large retailer.
John Dascanio, DVM, joins RUSVM as Professor of Theriogenology in the Clinical Sciences section. Dascanio has research interests in reproduction across species and disease affecting equine, camelid , and small animals. CAMPUS MASTER PLANNING EFFORT
As the next phase in the Campus Master Planning effort begins for RUSVM, a coordinating team from DeVry, Ross University and selected consulting firms arrive on campus the week of February 1 for four days of meetings and collaborative visioning. | Did You Know? | Animal Answers Live on WINNFM (98.9 FM) In celebration of World Veterinary Year, RUSVM launched a new radio program in St. Kitts and Nevis on January 12, 2011. Animal Answers is aired on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:15 a.m.
This first edition featured an introduction to Animal Answers and World Veterinary Year. The highlight of the program was Dr. Mark Freeman discussing the RUSVM spay clinic. |More| |
REMINDERS: Incident Report System
| The Incident Report System provides individuals with direct access to current incidents as reported to campus security. The system is available via the Internet (on- and off-campus) with a RUSVM email account and password. Make it a habit to stay up-to-date. View the System
License Plate Renewal Plates ending in "1" If the last digit of your auto license plate ends in a 1, you must renew your car registration by January 31, 2011. Therefore your car must be inspected and insurance coverage must be current prior to going to Inland Revenue. |

RUSVM would like to thank the following individuals for their service to the University and wish them well in their future endeavors.
Celestine Njoku, DVM, PhD, will be leaving a the end of the January after fourteen years of service. He will be moving back to his native country of Nigeria to spend more time with family and friends. Njoku plans to continue some teaching to stay busy. When asked about his time at RUSVM he responded, "I have seen a lot of changes here at Ross and made a lot of friends, so I will be leaving with mixed feelings. I wish everyone well..our paths may cross again sometime in the future. Please keep in touch."
Darion John-King served as Technical Research Associate in the Research Department. He has decided to continue his education at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas to study business.
Veronica Kelly will be retiring at the end of January after thirteen years of service to RUSVM as a housekeeper. She plans to spend more time with her family and enjoy relaxing. |
