POSTCARDS FROM THE ROAD: Ski Trip - Bethel, ME
A lack of snow here on campus didn't stop this hardy group of RiverWoods residents from hitting the slopes at Sunday River. We can neither confirm nor deny the ages of some of the residents in this photo, but one of the skiers says that once they hit 80 years old- ski lift tickets- not to mention vacations and other adventures and trips, can be found "on the cheap!"
This particular trip was part of the popular Road Scholar Alpine Skiing Program. (read more)

Ross Gittell shares economic outlook for NH

The same factors that make New Hampshire a great place to retire, also play a big role in economic recovery. That's according to Ross Gittell, Economist and Chancellor of the Community College System of New Hampshire. Gittell recently presented his economic outlook for retirement here at RiverWoods. Gittell said we can expect a slow recovery over the next one to two years. In the video clip below, Gittell explains why NH is well positioned for economic recovery. |

Two RiverWoods couples were recently featured in the Seacoast Seniors article, ' Respect is key to long marriage.' RiverWoods residents, Bob and Carol
Henrici have been ,married for 53 years, and Eileen and John Foley for 68. Both couples stressed the importance of caring, respect, compromise, and above all- family.
The article closes with quotes from Bob and Carol:
After all these years they're still interested in one another, still respectful, and still smitten.
"I think the biggest thing about Carol is she cares a lot about others... she's so generous." "He's a very, very loving husband," says Carol Henrici. "He always backs me up... helps me be a better person. I kind of worship him." To which Bob Henrici says, "I'll take that." |

Resident Snapshot: Sharing his artistic talent

Gallup: Granite State of Mind is One of the Happiest!

A new report from Gallup lists New Hampshire as one of the top ten happiest states in the country, and the only New England state on that list. The Gallop-Healthways Well-Being Index, ranks states based on factors including: Physical Health, Healthy Behaviors and Emotional Health, which included  how likely a resident was to say they smiled or laughed a lot yesterday, or whether they had a daily stress or worry. Western states joined NH in the top ten, while Hawaii hung onto the number one for a third consecutive year. Click here to view more on the State of the States.
