What I Did During My Summer Board Retreat

I've just got to say it - your AHMA has a phenomenal Board and staff! After attending our annual Board retreat in August, I was struck again by the talent, intelligence, good intentions, good humor and fellowship that our Board members and staff bring to everything they do for your AHMA. Your AHMA Board is a group of people just like you who have stepped up to volunteer their time and energy for this holistic medicine movement that we all love.

Meet our AHMA Program Chair,

Executive Director's Letter
Which AHMA Event is Right for You? by Steve Cadwell

If you've been to any of the dozens of AHMA medical conferences in the last 34 years, you know how special they are. (The members make them so.) From inception, AHMA set out to serve its wandering-practitioner members, and to regularly offer a central meeting place for fellowship, respite and self-care as well as for learning and satisfying CME requirements. AHMA conferences and gatherings are heartfelt. That's why it's so exciting now to be planning AHMA's first major medical conference since last year's iMosaic, in Minneapolis.

Review by William F. Morris, DO
Spirituality in medicine is a provocative subject. It is difficult to measure the effect of spirituality in the healing process; the outcomes are perhaps inconsistent, and the varieties of spiritual experience are wide-ranging and hard to categorize. As we are learning via physics, genetics, nutrition and many other areas of research, there are multiple factors involved in the healing process, not the least of which is the patient's belief system, his or her spiritual orientation. Medicine

And You Need Each Other

AHMA_Logo

You know why you joined AHMA. You know why you practice medicine as you do. More and more, people - your patients - are looking for the integrative, holistic approach to managing their health. We realized (again) at last year's retreat, The Healer Within, that you, as well as each member, need one another to remain whole, healthy, and able to help others.

AHMA doesn't have chapters in every state, however, we want to help you connect with like-minded professionals whenever and wherever possible. So please, help us help you. If you want to start a chapter in your area, please contact Steve Cadwell; bookmark our calendar and check it often to find helpful events and opportunities to earn CMEs or other applicable education credits. To place events on our calendar that others might benefit from, send an email to Claudia.  Thanks for helping us connect you with other members!
