Calling EMDR Therapists
Seeking those who have worked with patients with trauma.
This is a Humanitarian Assistance project that will use EMDR in work with Veterans and Families.  It will begin in September.
EMDR Therapists who have worked with Trauma are being sought for the project. Please send me (Elaine Wynne) an e-mail, indicating your interest. Although EMDR is an
evidence based therapy for the recovery from PTSD and has been used extensively inside the military, it is rarely used by MN institutions who serve this population.

New Practice Location for Carolyn Bowles
I know that some of you at times are looking for a rheumatologist to whom to refer your patients with arthritis and other rheumatology problems.  Carolyn Bowles has closed her practice in St. Peter and has now begun a practice at the new 212 Ridgeview Medical Center near Chaska.  She will be practicing Integrative Rheumatology and Medical Acupuncture.  For scheduling appointments, her office number is 952-361-2450.  Her office is in the same building as Tim Culbert's Integrative Pediatric Center, so it is exciting to have integrative practices right next to each other.

Summer, 2012
From the desk of Bill Manahan

Dear Members of the Minnesota Holistic Medicine Group,

Here is the second edition of a newsletter for members of our group.  Many of you have sent me articles and other pieces of information.  Thank you.  I then edit what you sent me, and I send it on to the AHMA office.  They then format it for us, make it readable, and send it back to me for distribution to you.  The idea was to have one source of information in which we could communicate with each other about good conferences, workshops, books, movies, or ideas.

Like any new idea, there have been a few problems.  So many of you sent me articles to be included that I had to not publish everything sent to me.  I apologize.  There is just too much going on to only do this every two months.  The second problem is that it took me more time than I had anticipated.  I am not sure what to do about that.

Journal Recommendation from Sue Haddow, MD

I would like to recommend the new journal, Global Advances in Health and Medicine, to our integrative and holistic colleagues. Many of you may recall that Greg Plotnikoff, MD waved this new journal in front of us at our last gathering in May, and he offered some free copies. After reading the opening editorial, I was sold. Perhaps it was because I have studied Tibetan medicine and appreciate the reference to the first recorded medical conferences. Or maybe because as an integrative and holistic person, this editorial resonated with a fundamental approach I adhere to, engaging the full spirit of integration and the 21st century. Or maybe because, as I read on, I found the journal to be practical, case-based and really just very cool! Whatever my reasons, you will surely find your own to read, keep reading and responding to the articles this group of forward thinking, global and patient centered health care people have managed to bring together.

Here is the link: http://gahmj.com/

My advice: start with the opening editorial from May 2012, Vol. 1, No. 2
