Beware of "Appointment Scam"
| | |
Recently, some AHMA staff and members have received emails from individuals claiming to be from out of the country and wanting to schedule "natural therapy" appointments for a group of 10. To our knowledge, these emails are scams and should be avoided and deleted!

| AHMA Offers Specialized Workshop at ICIM's Spring Conference | |
Join Us In Lexington, KY
Pain brings many patients to doctors' and practitioners' offices seeking relief.
Add to your pain management and treatment repertoire with knowledge gained from the specialized workshop, "New Ideas for Holistic Treatment of Pain" at the International College of Integrative Medicine's spring conference, "Rapid Therapeutic Response," in Lexington, KY, March 29-April 1. Presented by AHMA Past-President Hal Blatman, M.D., attendees will learn hands-on techniques for the effective reduction of pain in the elbow, wrist, neck and head.
Also, plan to attend the gala dinner/dance at the iconic Mansion Lexington, a 19th century antebellum mansion filled with rare antiques and old-world charm.

| ABIHM Announces Final Four Exam Opportunities | |
Our partner organization, ABIHM, is working with the University of Arizona and other academic institutions to develop a new board in integrative medicine, administered by the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS). ABIHM will discontinue offering its Annual Certification Exam before the new board exam is launched (projected for 2013). The new board plans to require a fellowship level of training in integrative medicine as a prerequisite qualification, but anticipates allowing active ABIHM Diplomates to sit for the new exam without completing a fellowship. If you are considering becoming a Diplomate of the ABIHM, (and AHMA STRONGLY encourages you to do so), you have four remaining opportunities:
1. Jan. 22, 2012, at the conclusion of the Scripps Natural Supplements Conference in San Diego (paper and pencil exam)
2. May 7-18, 2012, a computer-based exam offered in over 200 test locations within the USA and Canada
3. Nov. 2, 2012, at the conclusion of the Scripps/ABIHM Annual Review Course, San Diego (paper and pencil exam)
4. Jan. 28-Feb. 9, 2013 (computer-based exam)
Please read the attached document for more details about ABIHM's future and plans with the ABPS. ABIHM's website also includes information about the examination process at www.abihm.org.
