Our purpose and priorities
The NE Ohio Chapter Board was recently asked by AHMA's National Headquarters to finalize our decisions on what we felt were our chapter's purpose and priorities.  We have been developing the purpose since our inception almost two years ago. It has been a contemplative, soul-searching task.

We want to do so much to support holistic health and medicine in NE Ohio. We all know we can't do everything, so we've had to prioritize what is the best use of our resources.

Join us at our summer event

"Holistic Psychiatry"

Three highly regarded psychiatrists, Francoise Adan, M.D., Jodie Skillicorn, D.O., and Moshe Torem, M.D., present the latest developments in holistic psychiatry and how it compares to conventional traditional psychiatry.

Enjoy an evening that will be both experiential and informative as we explore the integration of the mind, body and spirit in psychiatry. Also, tour the new Ahuja Medical Center from 5:30 - 6:00 pm or 8:30 - 9:00 pm.

What is holistic psychiatry?

Dr. Skillicorn answers
JodieSkillicorn

The word psychiatry derives from the French word psychiatrie meaning "a doctor of the soul." Holistic psychiatry seeks to return to those ancestral roots. In order to heal the soul one must reintegrate the Whole Person, including not only the neurotrans-mitters in the brain but the mind, body, spirit, environment and the energy connecting them.

How does one even begin such a lofty undertaking?

Introducing the UH Ahuja Medical Center

Dr. Adan shares about Ahuja

ahuja mapWith a wellness focus at its core, the medical center offers patients access to high-quality medical care and is committed to be of service to the community. UH Ahuja Medical Center is designed to be cost-effective and energy-efficient. All patient rooms are private and include features to reduce noise, amenities that encourage overnight family visits and technology that connects caregivers to patients and to each other. The hospital's art collection and healing green spaces promote a calming environment for patients and families and are inviting for the community.

Holistic Health Service of NE Ohio

Another opportunity to connect with the holistic community

Holistic Health Service of NE Ohio is sponsoring a meeting of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practitioners to focus on ways that we might support and endorse one another's work. We discuss the promotion of each other's work through outreach events, websites, cyber-links, combined workshop ideas, advertising ideas, referrals and more.
