Sarah's Musings
Hello Fellow Cheese Lovers, As I write the sun is shining and the sky is oh so blue, perhaps celebrating the Paralympic Games. I found the Olympic Games awe inspiring but I feel even more humble and amazed by the achievements of all the athletes competing in the Paralympic Games. To have overcome such adversity and then achieved so much is, I feel, a very positive lesson for us all.
Hopefully the Games will encourage more of us to take up a sport. I’m not sure that walking our dog Pickle counts, but an enjoyable past time none the less.
An Invitation to take part in the Sussex Cheese Bowling Championship
We are getting rather excited about taking part in the second annual event that is the Sussex Cheese Bowling Championship and are busily making specially designed ‘balls of cheese’. The event takes place on Hove Lawns on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September and is part of the Brighton Food Festival It is a wonderfully quirky event, open to all ages and a great way to have some fun with friends and family and to test your bowling skills. You never know it might be the start of something bigger! Brighton 2012...... Rio 2016!!
We’d love to see you there and if you bring along a printed version of this Newsletter we will GIVE YOU a ball of cheese to roll, one per e-mail address.
Drilling for water.
Wishing to reduce further our reliance on outside utilities, in addition to our Solar Panels, we asked our friend, local dowser and geomancer, Richard Creightmore of Land and Spirit to dowse to find a place to drill a borehole on the farm.
With the help of his dowsing rods a spot was chosen behind the dairy and Ben of Nicholls Boreholes brought his drilling rig in and found good clean water at a depth of 60 metres. A sample of the water has been sent off to be tested and provided it meets all the necessary criteria for use it will be used in the dairy and as drinking water for the 250 cows.

The Weald Wood Fair
We won’t have a stand there but if you are yet to visit and you like all things connected with woods, I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the Weald Wood Fair taking place at Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum near Lewes 21- 23 September
