The Opportunity to Impact Christian Leaders and Ministries in Latin America and Around the World
Dear Praying Friends, We have some important news that we are excited about and want to share with you. I (Paul) have decided to accept an invitation to teach and minister at the Central American Theological Seminary in Guatemala City, Guatemala. This change of field and ministry has been approved by the World Outreach Committee and reflects WO's strategic commitment to partnerships for theological education of national church leaders. These partnerships facilitate the training up of national leaders for ministry and mission, and form an essential part of WO's strategy of "Full-Cycle" church planting. Without a doubt, SETECA (the Spanish acronym for the Central American Theological Seminary) is one of the strongest seminaries in Latin America that I know of. SETECA has a solid
commitment to Biblical truth and authority and its teachers and students share a passion to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed to every tribe and tongue and nation. The seminary has a student
body of about 1200, from 21 countries across Latin America, and a
missionary vision to equip these leaders for ministry in their countries
of origin and for cross-cultural mission as well. At present, SETECA
graduates are ministering in 29 countries across Latin America and around the world. This video will give
you a brief overview of the SETECA's history, vision and ministry. For more information about SETECA, click here. We are excited about the opportunity to serve at a seminary that has such a strong commitment to to evangelism and world missions. Since
1984, SETECA has been home to a missiological center and is
closely associated with the Latin American mission board, FAM International. In English, "FAM"
stands for "Fraternity for the Advancement of Missions." In Spanish
"FAM" stands for "Fraternidad
de Apoyo Misionero." This video offers a brief introduction to the ministry and vision of FAM International. FAM International has designated the following fields as strategic
priorities: Mexico, Hispanic USA, Canada and Spain The Muslim World
(Particularly Northern Africa and Turkey) Other fields that the Lord
of the Harvest would indicate We believe that our connection with SETECA and FAM International could be beneficial to those EPC churches that are seeking to equip or to call Latin American leaders for ministry with Hispanics within their own communities.
We are also very excited about the opportunity to partner with SETECA and FAM International in the strategic work of mobilizing and equipping Latin American missionaries for cross-cultural ministry in fields around the world. In this regard, FAM International's emphasis on mission to the Muslim world fits well with the EPC's own strategic priorities. We welcome and invite your partnership in the work of preparing and sending leaders from every country of Latin America to proclaim Christ to the nations and in particular to those who have never heard the Gospel. At the same time, we want to emphasize our desire and intention to have a continuing involvement in Argentina, serving as
a bridge between the Saint Andrews and EPC churches and as a
resource and advocate for the ongoing educational ministry
of the Saint Andrews Theological Institute. I pray that you will join us in responding to the vision that God has given us for equipping ministry in Latin America that impacts the world for Christ. We cannot do it without you! Please take a few moments to read how you and your church can help us to finish well in Argentina and to make the shift in early 2011 to life and ministry in Guatemala. I appreciate your time and your continued interest in our family and the ministry that God has called us to. Yours
for the Gospel, Paul |

We Need Your Help! Humanly speaking, as we look towards a move to life and ministry in Guatemala, finances are a major obstacle. Over the past two years, and in this difficult economy, giving has not kept pace with the rapidly increasing cost of living in Argentina.
World Outreach requires us to keep four months of salary in reserve as a cushion against hard times or unstable giving. Because of lagging support, this reserve has depleted over time and as of this month, we are in the red.
As we finish out this year in Argentina and prepare for what God has next, several urgent needs present themselves: We need to renew our reserves, make up a monthly shortfall of around $750, and raise an additional $14,000 to cover the costs of the move and setting up house in Guatemala.
Once we reach Guatemala, we anticipate that the overall cost of living will be about $800 less per month than what we currently require to live in Buenos Aires.
The good news of course is that what is impossible for us is certainly possible for God. Out of long experience of God's faithfulness, the Psalmist assures us:
"I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging for bread." ( Ps. 37:25) I am writing to ask God's people, both individually and corporately, for help: Five Ways Individuals Can Help- Will you commit to pray for us? If you would be interested joining a special prayer team and receiving a prayer letter on a more frequent basis with special updates regarding family and ministry needs, please contact me at <paul.j.branch@gmail.com> or click the "Join Our Mailing List" link in the right column of this page or on our Facebook page.
- If you are a regular supporter, please continue to partner with our family in the new ministry that God has called us to.
- If you are able, please prayerfully consider increasing the amount of pledged support or helping with a tax deductible one-time gift.
- If you or your employer is a Christian businessman or woman, please consider (or ask them to consider) helping us meet our shortfall and moving costs through a one-time tax deductible contribution.
- Please share our newsletter with a friend using the "Forward to a Friend" link in the right column.
Five Ways Churches Can Help- Please continue to help us with your prayers! (Rom. 15:30)
- We invite churches who are not regular supporters to partner with us through your prayers and financial support. If you desire more information about our vision for equipping ministry in Latin America or have specific questions, please contact me directly at <paul.j.branch@gmail.com>
- We ask the churches that have partnered with us during these eight years of ministry in Argentina to continue to partner with our family in the new ministry and field that God has called us to.
- We ask our supporting churches to prayerfully consider the possibility of an increase in regular support or a one-time contribution to help meet our short fall and moving costs.
- We would greatly appreciate recommendations of other churches that may be interested in sharing in this vision and letters of reference or introduction that would help us to connect with the right people in those congregations.
A Final NoteWorld Outreach asks that, as an aid to planning, both individuals and churches reaffirm their intention to continue supporting our ministry by dropping a line to WO Finance Director Nancy Schipper, <nancy.schipper@epc.org>
The World Outreach Committee will review our financial situation and the implications for the projected move to Guatemala at its September meeting. If any churches or individuals could present their pledges by September (even if these are to be paid later), I would greatly appreciate it.

Guille Mac Kenzie, Paul and Alberto Roldan | A Letter
of Recommendation from the Stated Clerk Elect of the Saint Andrews Presbytery in Argentina
"We appreciate the
Branches' ministry during the past
eight years in Argentina. We pray the Lord's blessing for them as they
follow God's call to an educational ministry in Guatemala that is
training leaders from all across Latin America for mission and ministry
in countries all over the world. In this new phase of the Branches' ministry, we look forward to discovering
new ways that Paul can be involved in the ongoing work of equipping
leaders for the Saint Andrews Presbyterian churches in Argentina. We
want to encourage you to continue to partner with the Branch family in this
new call and to help them in their move to Guatemala with your financial
gifts and prayers." Rev. Guille Mac Kenzie
