We're Moving

The contractors are making progress with the renovations on our new office and warehouse space. We hope to have a date for the move to the new office, in time for the February Newsletter.
So, after 20 years in the same location we are moving to a bigger, better facility for our business and the best news is that it is only about 2 blocks away from our current location. We don't have the official date set yet, but it will be in early 2012. The new address will be 2885 Country Drive, Suite 135, Little Canada, MN 55117.
In addition we are in the process of upgrading our accounting system, computers and just about everything else we have to better serve your needs. We appreciate your business and look forward to the next 20 years at this new location.

Energy Efficient Gas Station Canopy Lighting

Around the time Premier Lighting retrofitted the freezer/cooler door lighting to LED at Shell Convenience Store and Gas Station in Wyoming, Minnesota (Oct 2011) we also gave the owners some additional proposals on energy-saving lighting for their facility. One area that stood out in particular was the gas canopy light fixtures.

Before - 400 Watt Metal Halide Fixtures

Wyoming Shell had 42, 400 watt HID gas canopy fixtures that ran 10-12 hours per day which cost them around $6,750/year in energy. In addition the 400 watt fixtures (as accustomed to many HID fixtures) shifted colors, lost a lot of their initial light output, had weather related issues and only lasted 2-3 years before having to be replaced. Based on that Premier Lighting researched all options that were available for this application and narrowed down the best retrofit solution to either LED or fluorescent. After running the layouts and payback numbers it was determined that the fluorescent retrofit was the best solution in this application.

After - 6 Lamp T5 Fluorescent Fixtures

Premier Lighting removed the 42, 400 watt HID fixtures and installed 42, 2x2 Gas Canopy Fluorescent 6 Lamp T5 fixtures from P2. The new fixtures have an annual energy cost of $2,000 which saved the customer over $4,750/year in energy. In addition the new T5 fixture increased foot candle levels 20-30%, will last 1.5 times longer than the HID fixture and will maintain its light output/color for its entire life. This project qualified for a custom rebate from Xcel giving Wyoming Shell a payback of around 3 years!
