Miss Rhode Island's Outstanding Teen 2009 Appears On The Ellen Degeneres Show
MAOTeen congratulates Miss Rhode Island's Outstanding Tenn 2009 Emily Luther as she appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Emily and her partner Charlie Puth won a vocal contest set up by the very popular vocalist Adele. They sang a duet of Someone Like You. Emily and Charlie's performance was extraordinary, and received over 1 million hits on You-Tube, which prompted the team of the Ellen Degeneres Show to invite them to perform.
After their flawless prime time performance, Ellen announced that she has signed them both to her record label. Emily now has a recording contract and is no doubt on her way to an amazing career! She continues to attend Berklee College of Music.

MAOTeen Announces The Winners of the College Scholarships
Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization is pleased to announce the winners of the scholarships awarded by three wonderful universities. MAOTeen thanks Auburn University, Troy University and Nova Southeastern University for their continued support of our program.
Auburn University awarded a four-year renewable scholarship up to full tuition to Miss Alabama's Outstanding Teen 2011 Mi'a Callens and Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2012 Elizabeth Fechtel. They also awarded three four-year renewable scholarship up to $15,000 to:
- Miss Alaska's Outstanding Teen 2011 Hannah Rockwell
- Miss Louisiana's Outstanding Teen 2011 Justine Ker
- Miss South Dakota's Outstanding Teen 2011 Alexis Kosiak
Brenda Campbell from Troy University awarded six contestants with the Troy Chancellor's Award which includes a four-year renewable full-tuition and out-of-state-fees totaling $61,000. She also presented five young women with the Troy Millennium Scholar's Awards that includes a four-year renewable full tuition, room & board and out-of-state fees for a total of $85,000.

Miss Rhode Island's Outstanding Teen 2011 Ivy Shen was awarded Nova Southeastern University's Nova Razor Edge Award. A scholarship that is valued at $10,000 per year for total of $40,000.

On Saturday, August 20, 2011 Elizabeth Fechtel's life changed as she was awarded the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2012. The past month and half has been very busy for our new winner. Elizabeth has been on Daytime NBC, to the recording studio, made a guest appearance at a local spelling bee, tossed out the first pitch at a Major League Baseball Game and more! The program promotes scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens. In the past five years, the organization has made available more than $3 million in college scholarships.
