Dear Saint Arnold's Army:

Here are some keys to hosting a successful holiday party:

  • Lots of Christmas Ale.  Puts everybody in the mood, and can create those "situations" that everybody enjoys talking about for weeks after.
  • Have some Santo on hand.  A nice session beer to enjoy while watching others enjoying lots of Christmas Ale.
  • Saint Arnold prayer candles.  Candles help create the ambiance, plus these will burn cleanly for about 80 hours, the appropriate length of a good holiday party.
  • Amber Ale, Brown Ale, Elissa IPA, Lawnmower and Weedwacker.  The more of these you have on hand, the more joyful our holiday party will be!
  • Root Beer.  The sugar really gets the kids revved up.  They need that this time of year.

Christmas Ale Pub Crawl Part II

This Saturday in Rice Village

The weather is starting to be a little more season-appropriate, perfect for our Christmas Ale Pub Crawl Part II which will happen this Saturday afternoon, December 10 in the Rice Village.

Here are the details:

There will be a total of five stops and we will be using the "Open House" method for the first four.  We will be signing tickets at all four of the first four stops for three hours so people can split up between the establishments.  You will get your ticket at whichever stop you decide to visit first.  But, VERY IMPORTANT, we will only be handing out the tickets between 2 PM and 3 PM.  Thus, you still need to start between 2 and 3.  Then, at 5 PM, everybody will gather at one final stop and that is where we will award the glasses.  The prize for making all four stops will be our Christmas Ale pint glass.  We will have a large supply so don't worry about not getting a glass.  And as always, designated drivers are both eligible for the award and encouraged to attend! So here is the layout:

The first four locations (at which we will be simultaneously between 2 PM and 5 PM):

We'll find three places in the southern Morningside area but north of University.  Two are on the east side of the street and one on the west side.  Hint: Ginger baker wood. We'll find one place around Rice Blvd and Kirby.  You'll have to wing this one.

At 5 PM we'll look for one final place in the Morningside area, perhaps a little north of the others, but still staying south of Rice Blvd and on the east side of Morningside.

Hope to see you there!

Archive HeaderGrow a Donegal - Win an iPad

Start strategizing your facial hair growth plan since we will again be holding our Donegal Beard Growing Competition.

To compete, you must check in with us, clean-shaven, on a tour between Saturday, December 31 and Saturday, January 7 so we can take your picture.  Another option is to send us a picture of yourself on or after January 1 with the day's newspaper (kidnapper style) if you can't get here.  Photoshopping the newspaper into an older picture will result in very bad karma.  Clean-shaven means no facial hair.  Sideburns must be cut at least halfway up the ear.

Judging will occur at our St. Patrick's Day Party. The winner will be awarded an iPad.  Previous winners are ineligible to win for 2 years.  We plan on seeking qualified, independent judges for the finale.

Dallas Pub Crawl on December 10 Too

Simultaneous with our Rice Village Pub Crawl, we will be holding one in Dallas too.

For information on that pub crawl, please follow this link.
