Alternative Physical Therapy
Pain management or elimination?
Pain comes in many forms. Physical pain experienced in muscles, joints, cramps, headaches, injuries, etc. Pain is also experienced emotionally manifesting symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADD, ADHD, eating disorders, etc.

Andrzej Strzalkowski, RPT

The path we choose to address the issue of pain can mean the difference between a cycle (or lifetime) of prescription medications and/or surgeries (often resulting in reducing, not eliminating pain) - or - pain free wellness through non-invasive Alternative Physical Therapy, self growth and natural remedies.
The Alternative Physical Therapy path is one in which the patient holds the key to their release from pain; whether physical or emotional. The therapist; Andrzej, acts as a guide, coaxing cooperation from the physical body while assisting the patient on their particular path to emotional wellness. Not pushing them ahead, nor dragging them along, but standing at their side, pointing out obstructions in the path and encouraging the patient forward towards a healthy, pain free life.
You can be rid of pain! The cure is within you.

Massage Heat Therapy through Bamboo-Fusion Heat is widely recognized and applauded for its therapeutic benefits, including its ability to ease pain and aid in the healing process. The benefits of heat for chronic conditions have been | Nathalie Cecilia, LMT
Creator; Bamboo-Fusion |
well documented and increase exponentially when combined with massage.
Heat can help reduce stiffness, spasms and pain; increase circulation to promote nutrient flow, waste removal and tissue healing; and allow the client to become increasingly receptive to deeper, more effective massage techniques. Heat is a favorite therapy of both massage clients and therapists. Typical methods of heat application include stones, warming oils and heat packs.
However, each of those tools offer its own unique challenge. Stones can be heavy and difficult to transport and relatively time consuming to heat and clean. Some therapist feel the warmth generated from oils is less than they desire. Heat packs can only be applied before or after an area is worked, not used as active tools while massaging and are usually limited to one or two areas of application.
Bamboo makes use of heat at its best, providing an active tool that allows for continuous heat application and eliminates length cleanup time.
Taken from "Heated Tools for Client Care Bamboo-Fusion", by Nathalie Cecilia for Massage Magazine, July 2011.

Yoga for Body & Soul
Intentional yoga...to go...
Regularly, in my yoga classes I remind students of asanas that can be practiced outside the studio, during everyday routines. This application of yoga in everyday situations promotes the "lifestyle" effect yoga can have on an individual, supporting them in the development of healthy body mechanics.
 |
Brook Longobardi, CYI
|
In addition, a heightened "awareness" of yoga, outside the studio, can become habitual and further the serious yoga student in their practice. Observing "intentional yoga" throughout each and every day invites not only muscle memory; it encourages the emotional memories and permits the student to embrace the peacefulness found in the assana of Savasana, at moments when life isn't so peaceful.
With this in mind, practice the following for improved balance while sitting at your desk, during meetings, while riding in a car or anytime you are seated.
Ankle Rotation & Flex
Benefits: Improve flexibility and balance
1) Cross one leg over the other, resting your calf across your knee. Make sure your ankle can move freely.
2) Slowly rotate your ankle 20 times clockwise in a large circular pattern, making sure your knee is not moving...just your ankle.
3) Repeat step two, counter clockwise.
4) With your leg in the same position, point your toe strongly then slowly flex (also know as dorsi flex) your foot, continuing the "pointing" and "flexing" in a gentle wavelike motion up to 20 times.
Tips: Listen to your body & STOP if you experience pain.
Breath into any discomfort during movement.
Work your way up to 20 repetitions if necessary.
Remember, I am available online at brook@myalternativetherapy.net
for any questions you may have.
I look forward to seeing you in class!
