Congressman Nugent to Speak at April 12 Chamber Luncheon
Congressman Richard B. Nugent, shown right, the U.S. Representative for Florida's 5th congressional district, will speak at the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce's next Lunch Exchange. The luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 12, (Note: one-time move from Wednesday to Thursday), 11:30am at the Blueberry Hill RV Resort, 6233 County Road 609 in Bushnell. Lunch is provided by Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Q in Bushnell.

Governor Signs Billion-Dollar Business Incentives Plan Into Law
FloridaMapGov. Rick Scott last week signed a number of business tax cuts he says will accelerate economic development in the state. The economic development package includes more than $1 billion in tax cuts for businesses over the next three years. It features broad cuts of the unemployment tax and the corporate income tax, and targeted reductions for manufacturers, private plane repairers, and fruit and meat packers. Read More Here>>
Winning at Sales the Topic of Chamber Workshop

The Sumter County Chamber of Commerce and Lake Sumter Community College offer a workshop designed to help you increase sales and profits.

 
"Winning At Sales: Reaching the Decision Makers and Generating Results," is scheduled for Thursday, April 12, 8 to 9:30am. Both workshops, led by Robert Skolnick of The Delfin Group, will be presented at the Sumter County Schools Professional Center, 200 Cleveland Avenue in Wildwood.

Deaf and Hearing Services of Lake & Sumter Counties will conduct free hearing screenings on Thursday, April 5. Dr. S. Vicki Rezen, Ph.D. will be at the Deaf and Hearing Services to help identify significant hearing loss and to appropriately refer them to licensed hearing professionals.  Read More Here>>

 

Deaf and Hearing Services of Lake & Sumter Counties also offers a Level I American Sign Language class, covering basic sign language and introduction to the Deaf culture. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 8pm at 220 S. 9th Street in Leesburg. The fee is $75 ($35 for the book and $40 for the instruction). The Alzheimer's Family Organization will present its annual Alberta's Fashion Show on June 12 at the Heritage Springs Country Club. Fashions will be provided by Patchington and a delicious lunch will be served by Heritage Springs. There will also be raffles and auctions.  Read More Here>>
