August Lunch Exchange to showcase plans for downtown Bushnell
 Join us for a discussion of exciting new developments in Bushnell at the Chamber Lunch Exchange Wednesday, August 10, 11:30am, at the NASCAR RV Resorts at Blueberry Hill, 6233 County Road 609 in Bushnell. City Manager Vince Ruano has been invited to review the plans for its $4 million Bike/ Pedestrian & Multi-Modal Transportation Enhancement Project. The project includes construction of a town square park that includes a 35-foot gazebo and decorative fountain across from City Hall. It is funded by the state Department of Transportation.
Mayor Bill Spaude will also talk about the upcoming Bushnell Fall Festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 15. The cost to attend is $10 for members and $15 for non members and RSVP is required. Reach New Teachers: New teacher orientation for Sumter County Schools will be July 28, 29 and August 1 and 2. Businesses can provide literature or items to go into Welcome Bags for about 40 new teachers. Gift items and certificates are appreciated and presented as door prizes. New Students Need to Apply by August 8 for Lake-Sumter Community College's Fall Classes Open registration begins July 25 for new students who have completed the enrollment process. Students who have not taken an LSCC course in a year or more also need to complete this process before registering. Lake-Sumter Community College's fall term begins August 22. Current LSCC students with 45 or more credit hours can register online beginning July 11; students with 44 or fewer credit hours on July 18. Read More Here>>
Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County Recovered Over 45 Animals in Emergency Rescue - A South Sumter family had contacted the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County mid-July for emergency assistance in their large "collection" of stray dogs & cats. Over 25 adult cats plus kittens from a stiflingly hot shed as well as 15 adult large breed dogs & five newborn puppies were in dilapidated chain link pens. The HS/SPCA of Sumter is reaching out with hopes that the community will be able to help with dog/cat food, crates/outdoor kennels & monetary donations. Read More Here>>
