Media Roundtable Scheduled for July Lunch Exchange

Our July Lunch Exchange will feature a roundtable discussion of how businesses can work with area media to get their message out. The lunch meeting on Wednesday, July 13, 11:30am at the Wildwood Country Resort will feature representatives from area newspapers, as well as Heather Sorentrue (shown), Lake County reporter for Bright House News 13. The roundtable will help businesses and organizations understand how best to communicate with reporters and editors to get their important news considered for coverage. Polly's Pantry Royal Tea Room in Wildwood will provide lunch. 
Chamber to Launch Lake Panasoffkee Business Council With Meeting Thursday
Lake Panasoffkee Sign The Sumter County Chamber invites all Lake Panasoffkee businesses to the first meeting of the Lake Panasoffkee Business Council on Thursday, June 16, 6pm, at Catfish Johnny's Restaurant, 2396 N. County Road 470, Lake Panasoffkee.

The business council will help us better meet business' needs and represent their interests. Admission is free, and the meeting is open to all Lake Panasoffkee businesses, regardless of whether or not they are chamber members.

Workforce Mobile Jobs Unit Returns to Sumter County Tuesday

Workforce Central Florida (WCF) is driving its employment and jobs vehicle to Sumter County's Villages Services Center in Wildwood on Tuesday, June 14, 10am to 3pm.

 

The workforce jobs unit is a large RV-like vehicle containing a computer lab with satellite link, an online jobs bank, personal assistance in resume-building and career assessment, a labor market library, personalized training and instructions, job openings search and assistance in applying for available jobs - and all services are FREE! 

 

The mobile jobs unit will return to Sumter County Tuesday, June 28, at Hands on International in Wildwood, and Wednesday, July 6, at Bushnell Probation in Bushnell.(Thanks to e5 solutions for info.)

Wildwood Athletic Club's 4th Annual Golf Tournament is July 22 @ Lake Miona Country Club. We are looking for golfers, donations for raffle prizes and new members for our club. Susan Kelly, UF/IFAS Sumter County Extension Director, is conducting a survey to determine how many people in our area would use a shared commercial kitchen and/or processing facility. To produce food products for sale, you must process them in a licensed commercial kitchen or facility. Please take the survey here. You can also send it to anyone who might be interested in using this facility to start a food business.

Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter Urgently Needs Donations  As the summer months approach and snowbirds leave the area, many needs remain behind such as the on-going programs for low income residents and their pets.  The Humane Society/SPCA is requesting a show of community help with a monetary donation. Donations can be dropped off at the Humane Society/SPCA Office on CR 529A (one road east of the Sumter Co. landfill) Monday-Friday between 10am-2pm.  Read more here>>
