Senate President Haridopolis, Senator Hays to Recap Legislative Session at Lunch Exchange Wednesday
HaridopolisFlorida Senate President Mike Haridopolis (shown), State Senator Alan Hays, former Senator Carey Baker, and Joshua Blake, Legislative Assistant for Rep. Marlene O'Toole, will recap the just-finished Florida legislative session at the chamber's June Lunch Exchange. It will be presented by the chamber's Governmental Affairs Committee on Wednesday, June 8, 11:30am at the NASCAR RV Resort at Blueberry Hill, 6233 County Road 609 (next to Wal-Mart) in Bushnell. Chamber to Launch Lake Panasoffkee Business Council With Meeting June 16
Lake Panasoffkee Sign The Sumter County Chamber invites all Lake Panasoffkee businesses to the first meeting of the Lake Panasoffkee Business Council on Thursday, June 16, 6pm, at Catfish Johnny's Restaurant, 2396 N. County Road 470, Lake Panasoffkee.

The business council will help us better meet business' needs and represent their interests. Admission is free, and the meeting is open to all Lake Panasoffkee businesses, regardless of whether or not they are chamber members.

How Does the Couponing Craze Affect You and Your Business?

National speaker, columnist and radio host Tanya Sweeney, "The Coupon Queeny," will unlock the mysteries of couponing for businesses and consumers. Learn how providing discounts and coupons can increase your revenue and grow your customer base. It's scheduled for Thursday, July 21, 5:30 to 7:30pm at Hampton Inn in The Villages. The cost to attend is $25 at the door. 

Limited Number of Full Scholarships Available to Entrepreneurial Institute 

lscc The Business Resources Center of Lake-Sumter Community College is launching a Sumter County Entrepreneurial Institute this spring. 
The Sumter County Chamber has a limited number of full scholarships for members. Call the chamber office at 352-793-3099 for details.

 

Start Date:  Wednesday, June 8     Times: 6 to 9PM 

Location: Wildwood Community Center, 6500 Powell Road (CR 139), Wildwood, Fla.

Duration: 10 consecutive Wednesday evenings concluding on August 10. Graduation on August 17. 

Cost: Chamber of Commerce Members: regularly $165 now $82.50. Non-Members: $195

Susan Kelly, UF/IFAS Sumter County Extension Director, is conducting a survey to determine how many people in our area would use a shared commercial kitchen and/or processing facility. To produce food products for sale, you must process them in a licensed commercial kitchen or facility. Please take the survey here. You can also send it to anyone who might be interested in using this facility to start a food business.

 

Congratulations to Beverly Steele, founder of Young Performing Artists Inc. on being selected as the Florida Alliance for Arts Education 2011 Business Leader. Each year, FAAE honors leaders who help to ensure that Florida students have a complete education that includes the arts.
