Be Prepared for Hurricane Season
Hurricane season starts June 1. Does your business have a plan if disaster strikes? Our colleagues in Oklahoma, Missouri and Louisiana can tell you that it could happen at any time. Fortunately, there are many resources to help you prepare for the effects of a natural disaster.
Step one is to sign up for the Code Red Emergency Notification System. This system allows the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to telephone all or targeted areas of the County in an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices).
www.FloridaDisaster.org, an interactive website by the State of Florida's Office of Emergency Management, will guide you through the process of creating a disaster plan for your family or business. It's easy, and will help you avoid extended disruption of your business.
