We at Kelly Insurance want to make sure you are aware of any important changes that may affect your group health benefits.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has recently released notification of a change in their policy on terminations due to non payment. Please see below for the explanation of changes from Anthem:
Amendment to Reinstatement of Coverage Policy from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield:
Effective January 1, 2011
We periodically review our guidelines to determine the need for any changes or clarifications to our policies. As a result of our recent review, we are updating our Reinstatement Policy for employer groups, effective January 1, 2011, to include reinstatement fees.
Reinstatement of Coverage Policy
Groups that have been cancelled due to non-payment may be eligible for reinstatement if the following criteria are met:
- The reinstatement request is made within 30 calendar days of the terminated date as documented by the system transaction date.
- There have been no more than two previous reinstatements of coverage in the past twelve months.
- All Underwriting guidelines have been met.
- There have been no more than two NSF (in-sufficient funds) returned checks in the most recent rolling twelve months.
- Payments in full for past and current months' premiums are required prior to reinstatement action.
- Where Finance Operations oversees the collection process and where allowed by contract, a reinstatement fee will be charged.
- Coverage denied for reinstatement may be eligible to be rewritten under a new policy.
