| Art for the Masses | On Saturday, November 20, check off some of your holiday shopping while supporting local artists at the same time. The eighth annual Art for the Masses event will be hosted at the new Wilmington Convention Center this year, and will feature original paintings, sculpture, jewelry, glasswork, and more from local artists - all priced at $250 or less. A $3 donation is requested at the door to benefit Creative Wilmington, a non-profit group that promotes arts and culture in The Port City. To read more, visit our website.

Commissioning of the USS Gravely
|  Wilmington has once again been chosen as the site for the commissioning of a United States Navy vessel. This time it's the guided-missile destroyer Gravely. The commissioning is scheduled for Saturday, November 20. Cape Fear Riverboats and Wilmington Water Tours are offering public tours on the water leading up to November 20.

New Downtown Business
| On Wednesday, November 3 a new downtown restaurant opened its doors to the world with a grand opening celebration. Manna, located at 123 Princess Street, features American cuisine with European sensibilities. In an email to WDI, owner William Mellon said the grand opening was "a great day for for both Jacob [Hilbert, Executive Chef/Proprietor] and I to see the vision that we have been talking about for more than four years actually come to fruition."
