Adult Children's Retreat held June 25-28
Adult Children RetreatThere were 26 surviving adult children (20 years and older) at the retreat held at the YMCA Trout Lodge in Potosi, MO. The extreme heat, with temperatures in the 90's, didn't stop the survivors from taking part in counseling sessions and participating in fun outdoor activities. Many of the attendees have attended camp and Outward Bound and are now taking in the next retreat available to them as adults.
Ride4COPS Update:
Ride4COPSHarry Herington, a former police officer who is now the CEO of NIC-USA, an e-government business, is on the Road for C.O.P.S. He is riding his red, white and blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle to each state capitol over the next 3 years to raise awareness of the inherent dangers of law enforcement and support for families of fallen officers. At each stop, Ride4COPS is making a donation to the local C.O.P.S. Chapter. So far Ride4COPS has visited Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Arkansas, Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Iowa, and most recently Wisconsin.

Harry states, "As a former police officer, I know from experience that an officer's biggest concern is not falling in the line of duty, but what happens to their family if they do. That is why I am committed to raising awareness for this great cause, and I encourage others to follow the ride and get involved."

COPS Walk
COPS Walk logoThe 2010 COPS Walk will be here before we know it. Many participants are already busy fundraising for the annual event. If you would like to make a donation, many COPS Walkers have set up donation pages on Razoo.com. Donate to the general COPS Walk page or to your favorite walker! This year's COPS Walk will be held October 9 and 10 in Harpers' Ferry, WV. The COPS Walk is a physically challenging and emotionally rewarding experience as you walk 25 miles in 2 days with other law enforcement survivors.

Would you like to help raise money for COPS Walk 2010 but just can't "get out of bed" to be there?
Consider becoming a Sleep Walker for the COPS Walk this year! Sleep Walkers who raise $1,000 or more will receive the official COPS Walk 2010 gift, a pillow case identifying you as a Sleep Walker, acknowledgement in the COPS Walk thank you ad in the winter C.O.P.S. newsletter, and the feeling of satisfaction that you helped C.O.P.S. continue its mission of rebuilding shattered lives.
