Private Lessons At Camp

Boy Playing Trumpet

We get a lot of questions about how our private lessons are organized at each of the camps.  Information about private lessons is included in the camp handbook and online, but below we've provided a quick reference to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Choral Ensemble, Honors Piano Camp, Honors Chamber Winds, Senior High Band Camp, Middle School Band Camp and String Orchestra Camp are the camps which offer some form of private lessons.

Choral Ensemble Camp - This camp offers private lessons to a few select students based on an audition. Selected students will receive lessons during the course of the week and prepare a piece to perform at the Solo Recital on Thursday evening. There is no cost for the lessons if you are selected. Auditions will only be held on check-in day.  If you can not arrive during the designated check-in times, you will not be able to audition for private lessons.  Details about preparing for the audition can be found in the camp handbook or online.

Honors Piano Camp - If you are accepted to Honors Piano Camp, you will automatically receive four private lessons which will be 50 minutes each. Teacher assignments are made in advance, so if you wish to request a specific teacher please contact the camp office prior to June 5. If no request is made prior to June 5, you will be assigned a private teacher.

String Orchestra Camp - This camp offers students the option to sign up for private lessons at an additional cost of $25.00 per 45-minute lesson.  All lessons are organized and paid for on the first day of camp.  Payments for lessons are payable by cash or check only and checks must be made payable directly to the instructor. Lessons are scheduled with a teacher based on availability*. The lesson will take place during lunch or during theory class; no lessons are scheduled outside of the 8am-5pm class day.
*No FSU faculty members are available for lessons at this camp. Lesson are provided by graduate students only.
