Hey Everyone!
Two more weeks of school - oh no, what are your plans to keep your kids entertained over the summer? What will it be? Camp? Sports? Maybe summer school? Whatever your plans are, enjoy when life slows down a bit and we don't have to have the strict routine of homework and early bedtimes. Consider this line from the poem written by Erma Bombeck, called "If I Had My Life To Live Over" and remember it's the small little things that our kids remember.
"I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains."
She wrote this poem after she found out she had a fatal disease so take her advice and enjoy every moment of everyday!

| Trina Rises to the Challenge!

The flour dust has settled and the votes are in! The winner of the first annual Take the Party Outside "Take the Cake" Cupcake Contest is...Trina's Cakes of Orangeville, Ontario. 
Trina Stevens took home the prize for her very creative "barbecue" cupcake. Winning is sweet, but the icing on the cake is that Trina's Cakes has won a year's worth of free advertising on TakeThePartyOutside.com. What started out as a hobby for Trina has become a full-time occupation. Previous to becoming a cake artist and starting up Trina's Cakes, Trina worked as a graphic designer and interior designer. Art is in Trina's blood and it shows with her cake and cupcake designs. All of the artwork that graces her cakes and cupcakes is custom and hand-drawn. Trina is always up for whatever challenge her customers have for her too. "If you can think it," Trina emphasizes, "I will find a way to create it." For Trina, quality is just as important as creativity. "Each cake and cupcake is made fresh, on the premises, from scratch." Trina loves to source and try new recipes as well. "If a customer has a tried-and-true family recipe that they would like to share, I'd love to check it out. If I end up using it, I'll set them up with something sweet in return!" Charity Cupcake Class
The class will take place over two nights. You don't have to have a creative bone in your body to take this class. If you are creative, you will certainly still gain a lot from this class as well, including tips and trade secrets the pros use.
The first night we will be learning how to enhance a cake mix. You will be able to make cupcakes that taste as good as they look. By the end of the second night you will have the knowledge and gone through the process of creating five fun-for-summer cupcakes.
Theme...Faux Food, perfect for the summer BBQ party season.
Corn on the Cob Cupcakes
Spaghetti and Meatballs
Baked pies
Ho Ho's
Hamburgers and Fries
$30 per person for the class. All the proceeds will be going to Oxfam Canada, Team Active Possibilities.
The class will be taking place in Everett at Christine Gray's house, 33 Burbank Circle. Thank you Christine for donating your time. (perhaps you should not put her address...I don't know)
Potential dates, depending on the interest of the group: June 27th or 28th for the first class and July 12th or 13th for the second class. 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 PM.

What is Oxfam?
I am taking part in Oxfam Trailwalker Canada. Oxfam Trailwalker is the world's greatest team challenge! And it's also one of the toughest. The challenge is to hike 100kms of trail in less than 48 hours as a team of 4. Teams must start together, stick together and finish together.
And it's not just physically demanding - Oxfam Trailwalker is also a fundraising challenge. Teams commit to raising at least $2,500 to help make a real difference in the lives of women and girls, men and boys living in poverty.
