for our last Holiday Market of the Season!
Dear Goochland Farmers Market Customers,

Fill those stockings and finish up that gift list locally this Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 10am until 2pm indoors at J. Sargeant Reynolds, Western Campus in Goochland.  Please click here for directions.  The Goochland Farmers Market is sponsored by the Center for Rural Culture.  Please bring cloth bags for your purchases.  We happily accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover for all of our vendors at the Center for Rural Culture booth and also have gift certificates available. Please forward this e-mail to a friend or share it on Facebook or Twitter.

Happy, happy holidays to you all!

Jane Conner
Market Manager

P.s. Since this is the last market until May, please consider joining Local Roots Food Co-op to continue getting local food throughout the winter.
Market Happenings and Vendor Offerings

santaIt wouldn't be a true holiday market without our pal, Santa.  So we managed to get him to take a break from his busy schedule to visit with us this Saturday from 10am to 2pm.  So put on your Holiday best and get your picture with Santa and make sure he knows how good you have been this year!

Bush_HogsGoochland Farmers Market also welcomes local author Robin Traywick Williams this Saturday.  Mystery writer Rita Mae Brown says Goochland's Robin Traywick Williams is "the country Seinfeld." Robin is an award-winning journalist who writes humorous essays in the vein of Dave Barry and Erma Bombeck. Readers of her first collection, "Chivalry, Thy Name Is Bubba," have been eagerly awaiting the publication of "Bush Hogs and Other Swine. "With an engaging foreword by Earl Hamner, creator of "The Waltons," these short pieces about family, animals and rural life will have readers chuckling and reading passages out loud to their family and friends. Robin will be at the holiday market signing both books.  Please visit her website for more information.

Southern States, one of our market sponsors, is here to help you get your animals ready for winter's inclement weather. Stop by our table to see our line of pet, equine and poultry feeds, hay stretchers and bedding that will keep your large animals warm and toasty on cold winter nights.  We will have a FREE drawing at the end of the day for several bags of feed and other pet products, so come see us and register for a chance to win!

love_neighborWe will also be accepting donations of non-perishable food items to be donated to Goochland Family Clinic and Family Services' Food Pantry.  Please bring those by the Center for Rural Culture Booth (on the left as soon as you enter the main building).  Bring in a donation and we will give you a market buck to spend with any of our wonderful vendors.

Please click here to see what our ho-ho-holiday vendors are bringing this week!

We will hold a huge holiday raffle at 12:30pm.  Raffle items vary weekly, so be sure to check in at the Center for Rural Culture booth to see what exciting items are up for grabs this week!   Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00; so get your tickets early and shop around until the drawing.

If you would like to volunteer at the Goochland Farmers Market, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Michele Wright. For additional information about volunteering, please click here.
