VD + A = P
Last week we explored the GET TO vs. NEED TO distinction. We established that despite all the messages to the contrary, we don't, in fact, need to be further along than we are. Rather, the truth is that we are precisely in the perfect place, always have been, always will be, and if we want to upgrade or alter our lives, well, we GET TO do that. If we so desire.
That being the case, let's now talk about the ultimate productivity formula.
VD + A = P
Let's define the variables:
VD = Vision Decision
A = Accountability
P = Productivity
So, according to the formula, Productivity is the result of combining a Vision Decision with Accountability.
A Vision Decision is much more than simply a vision. If I am going to create something, I must first have the idea for it. That idea is the vision, and it exists at this point in my mind as a possibility. It is the seed of what will become manifest in the physical realm. But until that idea is treated as a DECISION (vs. a wish) then it will remain only a possibility. If we are truly committed to making this idea a reality, then we must exercise the choice to DECIDE it will be so. The difference between a vision and a Vision Decision is the former is something you hope for and the latter is something you choose.
The most Mentally Tough, Emotionally Intelligent, Psychologically Strong, most Conscious people demonstrate the courage to be so bold as to upgrade their desires to decisions. But that ain't all. They also demonstrate the courage to make themselves accountable.
Accountability is the ingredient that ensures the Vision Decision remains a decision and doesn't get downgraded to a weak wish. And that is a very common phenomenon. There are a million reasons why people permit themselves to downgrade - none of which are legitimate, but all of which are convincing. Doubt, fear, past failure, etc. What matters here is that with accountability, we minimize the likelihood of downgrading and we maximize the likelihood of producing.
The best way in the world to hold yourself accountable is to have a Coach. Get one.
