Greetings!

for their own fulfillment." I often share the story of my nephew Benny and my car keys. It's a profound story because of what doesn't happen in it.
I was at my sister's house watching a football game one Sunday and I'd placed my car keys up on the mantle above the fireplace - about 5 feet off the ground. They were situated beneath a recessed light in the ceiling, so they were glistening. In crawls my infant nephew Benny. He must have seen the keys and become interested in them, because he immediately started to crawl toward them. Can you see the profound nature of that?! It's profound because of what Benny DIDN'T do. Namely, hesitate. Benny didn't pause for one millisecond to entertain any questions about "HOW?" He didn't pause to reflect on the possibility. He had a desire, and his instantaneous response was to move in the direction of it. What ended up happening, of course, was that he crawled in front of me, looked up at the keys and started making some baby sounds. I looked away from the television to see what he was doing, saw him looking up, got up out of my chair, handed him the keys and went back to my game. He manifested his desire without ever entertaining "how?" And he did so with effortless ease. Quite possibly the biggest mistake I witness people making in the pursuit of their dreams is hesitating - becoming paralyzed by the "HOW?" Waiting to take action, to move in the direction of their desires because they can't see HOW they'll possibly pull it off. We've been conditioned to believe that we need to see the path, or the proof, before we move. "I want to start my own business!" "Well, how are you going to do that?" "I'm not sure." "Well, then, good luck, Buddy!" "Hmmmm." There's a great book written by Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist. One of my all time favorites. It's a story about a boy who decides to pursue his dreams and by virtue of doing so, the universe conspires to help him. Prior to our conditioning, our natural behavior is to simply move spontaneously and doubtlessly in the direction of our greatest desires. We don't need to know "HOW" it'll unfold. In fact, that's most of the fun! Watching the HOW develop itself. Kind of like watching a great movie for the first time. The entertainment is in the not knowing of the details. The HOW is inherent within the WHAT!
Establish clarity on WHAT it is you desire. Then make a move. Do something. Anything. Move in the direction of it. Regardless of how improbable or unlikely it may seem. Gives the universe a chance to perform its miracles. Let it conspire to help you! |
