_________________________________ STRESS MANAGEMENT IS FOR ROOKIES!!!
Without exception, every bit of stress we will ever experience is a product of our believing a thought; a thought that's just not true. So we CAN be free of stress. Completely. What a nice incentive to strengthen the content of my inner world.
THERE ARE NO STRESSFUL SITUATIONS! There are only situations. And they don't become stressful until we interpret them as such. Which means we create every shred of anxiety that we ever experience. We fabricate it, from thin air. With a thought. It's not there one second, then we think something's a major problem, and POOF! there's stress. But it wasn't there, until we had the stressful thought.
I get fired. That's an event. A situation. Just like it's sunny out. A situation. There's a hummingbird outside my window. An event. My house gets robbed. I make a triple bogey on a par 3. Milk was on sale at the grocery store. All events. Neither good nor bad. Neither inspiring nor stressful. Until we interpret and judge them one way or the other.
I win the lottery. I lose the use of my legs. Still just events. Neither wonderful nor tragic. Until I interpret them. Our conditioning is so deep, however, that our automatic programmed interpretations are powerful and quite convincing. But not ours'. And not the truth. Any interpretation that leads to stress, is a lie. One that's been handed down to us, and that we unknowingly propagate.
As I continue to propagate the lie that there's a problem, I accumulate more and more stress. As I accumulate more stress, I downgrade everything in my life, from decision making skills to my health. I spill my juice on my freshly cleaned and pressed shirt in the morning. I realize I forgot to refuel the car last night. There's heavy traffic on the way to work. I'm late for my presentation at a staff meeting. I left the memory card with the presentation saved on it at home. I find an old version on my computer. The printer malfunctions. If I interpret each of these events as problems, my stress accumulates. When that happens, this happens...(click the sentence below)
Our number one killer here in The States: Heart Disease. The number one contributor to that: Stress. Where does all my stress come from? How I think. Why would I want to "manage" something that kills me, that I totally create? Why wouldn't I prefer to simply stop creating it?!
Stress Management is So Old School!!!
Emotional Mastery is the new and improved reincarnation 2010 version of Stress Management. And when I practice mastering my emotions, by heightening my awareness to them, owning them and then choosing the ones that activate intelligence and creative genius, then I get more of what I want with less effort and feel a hell of a lot better in the process. And live longer. And model that mastery for those around me so they can live longer, more effortlessly miraculous lives as well.
CATCH --> OWN --> REPLACE
That's the practice. Catch yourself feeling stressed. Catch it as soon as you can. Own it by reminding yourself that you're not feeling stressed because of what's happened or is happening, but rather because of the way you're THINKING about it right now. Replace the thought (the lie) with the truth. Here are a few replacement mantras that work well:
"Ain't bad; just is."
"There is no problem."
"Everything is unfolding as it should."
"I can choose peace rather than this."
You CAN be stress free. You create all your stress. With concerted effort, awareness and daily practice, you will systematically reprogram yourself to respond to the events in your life with more and more intelligence, creativity and peace. And from that place of emotional mastery, you will manifest more and more of your desires, with less and less effort.
Don't manage your stress. Get rid of it! |

The Tate Family Celebrity Golf Tournament & Gala will be happening at the very special and exquisite Mesa Country Club on June 3rd and 4th in Mesa, AZ. The event is in honor of Tiffany Tate, who has Cystic Fibrosis, and was recently placed on the National Lung Transplant List. (The Tate family is VERY VERY close and dear to my heart!) Coach Ken Whisenhunt of The Arizona Cardinals (who I understand has some mad golf skills) is among those on the list of celbrities who will be participating.
Entry fees for individuals and foursomes are quite reasonable - especially considering that there's a Gala event the evening before the tournament!
