 Homecoming Parade Returns to Armstrong High School

The Armstrong Parent Association (APA) will host a community parade on Friday, October 5 to celebrate Robbinsdale Armstrong High School's homecoming.  The parade will feature Armstrong homecoming royalty, school officials and representatives from many of the high school's sports teams, clubs and other organized groups. 

 

"We're excited to bring back this great tradition," said APA President Alice Hodgson. "It's a fun way for the whole community to get involved with homecoming, increase Armstrong school spirit and promote pride in our district." The parade begins at 4:30 in the Armstrong upper parking lot; stay for tailgating after.  The football game kicks off at

Students Give Back with Cooper Cares Day of Service

Over 250 students from Cooper High School participated in the Cooper Cares Day of Service on September 18 at six district schools.  Cooper students taught lessons, read to children, and worked one-on-one with younger students.  Cooper Cares is a volunteer program through Cooper High School that focuses on service learning.

"The purpose of Cooper Cares is to give high school students an opportunity to give back," said Carrie Geise, college preparation and service learning coordinator at Cooper High School. "We want to encourage students to be lifelong partners with the community."

Highview Alternative Program is Moving


On October 15 and 16, Highview Alternative Program will be moving from Cavanagh to Sandburg Learning Center, 2400 Sandburg Lane in Golden Valley where it will join many other district programs that have been relocated. Highview's phone number will stay the same: 763-504-8700.

Highview is a 5-day per week program with a smaller, more personal environment for students who find it challenging to function within the larger school environment.  Students thrive in a less structured setting and are self-directed to succeed through flexibility, individualized work and choices with expectations geared towards ability and opportunities.  Click here to learn more about Highview Alternative Program.

Cooper Athletes Tie it Teal 

 

Join Robbinsdale Cooper High School's fall athletic teams as they Tie it Teal for ovarian cancer awareness.  Student athletes will be wearing teal colored shoelaces in an effort to raise awareness and funds for ovarian cancer during all home games starting October 1 through October 12. 

 

Tie it Teal at Cooper is in honor of Barbara Lehman, former Cooper Athletic Director and for whom the stadium is named. Lehman was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2001 and bravely fought the cancer which took her life on September 26, 2010.  For more information on Tie it Teal, click here.

Student Musicians Needed for Music in the Streets! 

 

Instruments 4 Kids - the Seven Dreams Education Foundation musical instrument campaign is looking for students to perform at the fall kick-off on Saturday, October 6 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

 

Music in the Streets will feature small groups of student musicians stationed around the Robbinsdale Area schools communities playing music.  Each group will be chaperoned during this time and will be encouraged to play music they have learned at school.  All students - beginners and advanced musicians - are encouraged to perform!
