| Lakeview and Northport Elementary Schools Construction Update
Lakeview and Northport are almost back in business! New family school registration for Lakeview will continue to take place at Robbinsdale Middle School, 3730 Toledo Ave., N., Robbinsdale through Monday, August 27. Starting Tuesday, August 28, the Lakeview Elementary School office will be open. There is no parking available at Lakeview. Shuttle buses will be running from the nearby church for the balance of the week. Open House conferences will take place at Cavanagh. Click here for more information.
New family school registration for Northport will continue to take place at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, 5929 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Center through Tuesday, August 28. Starting Wednesday, August 29, the Northport Elementary School office will be reopen at 8:00 a.m. There is no parking available at Northport. Shuttle buses will be running from the Sears parking lot just north of the school for the balance of the week. ___________________________________________________________________________________
School Starts September 4!
Robbinsdale Area Schools' first day of school is Tuesday, September 4. In preparation, students and families are invited to visit their school, drop off supplies, take a tour, and meet staff and teachers.

Busing Information for School Year 2012-13
All families of students eligible for transportation will receive a postcard with their child's bus stop information early next week. Students who are not eligible for district transportation will not receive a postcard. School Supplies Needed
The Robbinsdale Area Schools Resource and Welcome Center is in need of school supplies and would greatly appreciate donations. The Resource and Welcome Center registers families who are new to the country and/or who speak a language other than English in the home. As part of the registration process, we give the new students school supplies to give them a good welcome and start in our schools. | Early Childhood Family Education Open House and Start Dates
Are you a new family that will be starting an Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) class this fall? Join us for an Open House to learn about ECFE Tues., Aug. 30, 6 - 7:30 p.m. at New Hope Learning Center, 8301 47th Ave. N., New Hope.
All ECFE classes are now at New Hope Learning Center:
- Mon-Wed 2-day and Mon-Wed-Fri 3-day classes begin Sept. 5.
- Tues-Thurs 2-day classes begin Sept. 6.
- All other ECFE 13-week and full year classes begin the week of Sept. 10-14.
Family Literacy classes begin at Winnetka Learning Center on September 4.

RMS Teacher Finds an "Angel at Office Max" Earlier this month, Robbinsdale Middle School International Baccalaureate English Teacher Megan Nelson did what she does every August - she went school supply shopping for her classroom. As she was checking out, a friendly man came up behind Megan to wait in the same line. He asked her if she was a teacher and she smiled and nodded. "Yes, it's that time of year!" He continued to wait patiently until the end and then interrupted gently, saying, "Thanks for all you do. This is on me." Is Your School Going Green?
Welcome to the most thrilling green poster contest of 2012! The "Green Your School" sign contest is a chance for your school to show off its mad artistic skills and tell the world about how you're going green. Design a poster about your school's coolest sustainability project, like recycling, saving energy, or conserving waste. When you have the perfect design, post a picture of it on the MNGreenSchools Facebook timeline. Judges review your posters and the winners get amazing prizes!

Meet the League of Women Voters of Crystal-New Hope-East Plymouth at the New Hope Farmers Market
On Saturday, September 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., League of Women Voters (LWV) of Crystal-New Hope-East Plymouth members will staff a booth at the New Hope Community Farmers Market, 4300 Xylon Ave. N. LWV members will register voters; offer information about the Voter Photo ID issue; and provide information about LWV. Click here for more information about LMV.

Back to School & Back to the Capitol
The end of summer rituals are upon us and there is excitement in the air as the first day of a new school year approaches. It is also a crucial year for our students and school district at the state legislature. Many decisions will be made that will have a great impact on our students and their classrooms. The Legislative Action Coalition is hosting a Candidate Forum on Thursday, October 25, 2012 where you can meet and learn more about the candidates in your area.
