| Summer Food Services Program
Robbinsdale Area Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all eligible children free of charge. Students must be enrolled in the programs to qualify for summer meals. Children who are part of households that receive foods stamps or benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) are automatically eligible to receive free meals. Armstrong Youth Soccer Clinic 2012
Sign up for a four-day soccer clinic conducted by the Armstrong Boys Varsity Soccer team and their coaching staff. Mon. - Thurs., July 9-12, noon - 2:00 p.m. at Armstrong High School stadium. Cost is $50 by June 25; $60 after June 26. Click here for a registration form.

| Cooper Biology Teacher Named District Teacher of the Year
Robbinsdale Cooper High School biology teacher, Kristine Browers, couldn't have been more surprised to hear her name spoken. As the first district teacher to ever be named, Browers will represent Robbinsdale Area Schools in the 2012-2013 Minnesota Teacher of the Year Competition, which in turn leads to the National Teacher of the Year. In addition to teaching honors biology in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP), Browers also teaches anatomy and physiology. She is the assistant girls' cross country coach and part-time assistant coach for the Cooper Nordic ski team. She has served on Cooper's AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) site team since 2006 and plays an integral role in the implementation of that program.

| Forty-one Retirees Honored at Celebration
I'll Always Remember You was the theme at the Robbinsdale Area Schools retirement celebration which was held on May 10, 2012 at Plymouth Creek Center in Plymouth. Employees, friends and families shared memories, laughs, a few tears, and a song as 41 employees, with a combined 1,044 years of service, were honored. | Cooper Students Join Honeywell Volunteers at Kelley Farm
Oliver H. Kelley Farm, a National Historic Landmark and part of the Minnesota Historical Society, will benefit from a huge volunteer project which is being managed by Rebuilding Together Twin Cities. Student volunteers from Robbinsdale Cooper High School, along with employees from Honeywell, will donate over 1,200 hours of labor to perform landscape restoration projects, fence building, painting and brush clearing on Thursday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a brief program at noon. Speakers include Bob Quist from Oliver H. Kelley Farm, Paul Orzeski, President, Honeywell Building Solutions and Paj Lor, a junior at Robbinsdale Cooper High School. ____________________________________________________________
Sonnesyn and SRTS Celebrate National Bike to School Day Over 60 students, parents, siblings and pets biked, skated or walked to school on Wed., May 9 in celebration of the First National Bike to School Day. Representatives from Hennepin County's Safe Routes to School (SRTS) greeted students with a healthy snack before the school day started. Sonnesyn families took it a step further and had a week long program to "Bee" Active with daily drawings for students who turned in activity slips. | Cooper Seniors Sign National Letters of Intent for Basketball
Congratulations to Robbinsdale Cooper High School seniors Ashli Lee and Jasmine Haynes who both signed national letters of intent to play Division II college basketball. They are the first student athletes from the Cooper girls basketball program to accept college scholarships in 14 years. This fall, Lee will be heading to Valley City State University in Valley City, N.D. and Haynes will be off to Concordia University in St. Paul. _____________________________________________________________
Former CHS Coach Charlie Tabor Honored at Baseball Game
It was a beautiful day for baseball and a day when alumni crowded the stands to honor former Cooper varsity baseball coach, Charlie Tabor, on his upcoming induction into the Minnesota State Coaches Hall of Fame. A three-sport star in the mid-40s, he was known for his versatility, but baseball was his favorite sport. Besides playing varsity ball in college and one year in the minor leagues, Tabor coached baseball in the Robbinsdale school district for 29 years: four years as varsity assistant, 18 years as varsity head coach at Robbinsdale High School, and seven years as varsity head coach at Cooper. He coached Legion baseball for 20 years. Tabor also scouted for the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals for 10 years. Selected twice as a coach for the Minnesota High School Baseball All-star game, Tabor also worked with Twins greats Gary Gaetti and Kent Hrbek. Congratulations to Coach Tabor!

All About Animals This day is planned for animal lovers. Begin at the Animal Humane Society with all your favorite animals. Then, tour Como Zoo as never before and compete in a Big Game Hunt.
