Greetings!
The 2012 Minnesota Legislative Session begins January 24, 2012
The Legislative Action Coalition (LAC) of Robbinsdale Area Schools has been very busy planning for the upcoming session. Click here for our 2012 State Legislative Platform and here for our 2012 LAC brochure.
Keeping up with Helen Bassett, Robbinsdale Area School Board Member School Board member Helen Bassett recently had the opportunity to attend the 41st Annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Conference in Washington D.C. on September 21-24, 2011.
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation hosts this annual conference that brings together the Black Caucus' Congressional delegation (including Rep. Keith Ellison), federal agency representatives, and others for dialogue, presentations, exhibits, workshops, and lectures.
Director Bassett also took this opportunity to visit each of the congressional offices that represent our district, provide information about Robbinsdale Area Schools, and raise issues important to our district and community, including specific legislative positions. She felt the conference was highly informative, and the opportunity for legislative advocacy was an excellent addition.
Director Bassett Appointed to State Integration Revenue Replacement Task Force by Governor Dayton This twelve-member task force is charged by the Minnesota Legislature with developing recommendations for re-purposing integration revenue funds to create and sustain opportunities for improved educational outcomes that narrow and close the achievement gap. Click here for more information.
This is an important issue for the state and Robbinsdale Area Schools. Integration revenues in Robbinsdale Area Schools are used to fund areas such as Home School Liaisons, math and reading specialists, and professional development for teachers.
