Noble Elementary is "Mad for Math"

Noble numbers

Some children have been counting down the days until a favorite holiday.  But at Noble, students are spending a week doing all kinds of great things with math.  December 19 - 22 is Math Madness Week at Noble, where students will engage in various activities that highlight where math naturally occurs within a community.  "Our staff will have conversations with students about their numbers, so not only will they be wearing numbers, but we'll be talking numbers!" explained Beth Overstad, Noble's instructional coach who is overseeing the week's events.  Click here to read more!

Zachary Lane's Safe Route to School

Last week, the district grounds department completed installation of a pedestrian crossing blinker sign system at the east and west side of the Zachary Lane pedestrian crossing at the north entrance of Zachary Playfield across from Zachary Lane Elementary School.  The purpose is to help draw the attention of motorists to the pedestrian crossing. The sign features solar powered LEDs on each of the two blinker signs with activation by a push button on the pole. The project was partially funded by a safety grant coordinated through North Memorial Hospital and with the city of Plymouth traffic department, after consideration of the traffic speed and traffic counts around Zachary Lane.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten - Early Childhood Screening

Early childhood screening is required for all children prior to entrance in kindergarten. Screening can detect possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before they start school.  The screening is free and takes about an hour.  The office is located at Cavanagh Early Childhood Center, 5400 Corvallis Avenue North, Crystal, MN  55429.  Call 763-504-4180 for an appointment.  Screening is preferred at age 3, but can be done at 4 or 5 years old.  Results are based on your child's age at the time of the screening.  The screening office will be closed for winter break.  Appointments start again on Monday, January 9, 2012.
