Tips for Google Apps

Google Apps

  1. Someday soon you will have many documents.   Use Collections to create folder-like divisions.

Add a Star to a frequently used document by clicking the Star next to the title of the document. Sort your documents by Starred in the left-hand menu.

Create a collection

  1. At the Documents home page, click Create and select Collections. You'll be asked to name your collection.  The collection will appear in the menu in the left-hand side of the screen.
  2. To add a document to a collection, drag the title of the document to the collection.
  3. The document is not removed from the main display, but the document is tagged with the name of the collection. In this way you can add a document to more than one collection.

Google Forms can be used to conduct surveys and assessments. Forms collect data that is placed in a spreadsheet.

  1. From the Documents home page, click Create and select Form.
  2. Consider the permissions in the gray box.
  3. Give your form a name by replacing 'Untitled form'.
  4. Enter question titles and select type. Indicate if it's required. Add additional questions by clicking Add item at the top of the page.
  5. You can email the form or have Google create code that can be embedded into a web page.  (In SchoolFusion, be sure to click 'source' before pasting this code.)
  6. View responses in a summary form (creates nice graphs) or in a spreadsheet. Look for See Responses menu in the upper right. Select Summary to see graphs, select spreadsheet to see results in a spreadsheet.
