Condolences
We share with great sadness the news that Luanne Langley passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011.  She was 63 years old.


Luanne retired last December from Robbinsdale Area Schools after 37 years of service.  She finished her career as the head secretary at Robbinsdale Middle School.


A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, September 9.  Click here for details. 


We extend our condolences to the Langley family during this difficult time. Luanne will be missed.

Staff and Students experience a spectacular first day of school

 

1st DayBlue skies and sun greeted students and staff in Robbinsdale Area Schools as they arrived on the first day, Tuesday, September 6, 2011.  Friends greeted each other with smiles and hugs, making way for new friends as well!  

 

First day of school by the numbers:

  • Total students K-12: 11,937 (increase of 50 over 2010)
  • New to district grades 1-12:  730
  • Kindergarten class of 2024:  867 (increase of 22 over 2010)
  • Licensed teachers:  946
  • New teachers to the district: 51
  • Teachers new to the profession:  18
  • New support staff to the district:  27

Get to Know Google Apps

 

Google AppsThis fall, all staff and students in grades 1-12 will be provided access to Google Apps for Education through a district portal at http://apps.rdale.org. Only students in grades 3-12 will have email accounts.


Within this educational Google Apps environment, staff and students will have access to online tools for communication, collaboration, time management, and document storage.  Provided by Google to the district at no cost, these tools include:


Gmail:  a fully functioning email program for students in grades 3-12
Calendar:  a customizable calendar and to-do list
Contacts:  an address book for easy document sharing
GoogleDocs:  a word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and drawing program that allows multi-user access and editing.

 

Robbinsdale Area Schools is one of just a handful of school districts in the metro area that has introduced Google Apps to it's staff, students and families.

Registration for fall Swim Lessons at both Plymouth Middle School and Sandburg Learning Center will take place on Monday, September 19, from 7-8 p.m.
