Greetings!

It is that time of year again.  Whether you are sending your sons or daughters off to college for the first time or you're a veteran of many years, this can be a challenging and emotional time for your entire family.  As parents we experience a certain amount of sadness knowing that we need to start letting go.  This is a significant transition point that reminds us that our children are growing up rapidly and becoming more independent.

We also know and need to remember that our young adult sons and daughters are still maturing and that with the many challenges and opportunities to make decisions they continue to need our support, guidance and love.

Enjoy the experience, stay involved and don't be afraid to ask for help and support from family and friends if challenges arise.  And, remember that ASAP is an option for families that want to provide a safety net to support their college age sons or daughters.  Professional staff are available by telephone 24/7 to provide immediate and confidential support to your entire family.

Financial Decisions We Have Made to Finance College
ASAP- Where help is just a phone call away!We did not save enough money to finance our daughters' full college educations.  In fact, the amount we had in savings would only have gotten one of our daughters through a few months of school.

So we had to make some tough decisions.

Advice from Mom Regarding College Anxiety
College girl with anxietyWhen my daughters call or Skype me to ask for advice on how to deal with anxiety in college (whether it be handling separation anxiety or overcoming test anxiety), the first thing I say is that it is possible to be calm even in a storm.  I remind them that it is normal to be somewhat stressed when they are away from home and to be anxious before exams, but that being overly anxious is not a necessary evil.
