Click to DonateNext Monday, October 4 is the beginning of World Habitat Week.  Our very own Ana will be volunteering with the Washington DC Habitat Affiliate with volunteers from all over the country as the JCWP event takes place for a week.  To make it there, she still needs to reach her fundraising goal of $2,500To date, friends and supporters have pitched $1,325 in with their donations and she's more than half-way there!

You can make a
safe online donation today to help us send her off.  We now take most major credit/debit cards and e-checks!

URGENT CALL:
SNACK AND/OR LUNCH PROVIDERS NEEDED

Building On Faith Week will be running this year from October 12-17.  We are very excited to have many volunteers signed up to help build, but we still need to feed them!  Please consider donating snacks or lunches for about 20 people one day - you will not only feed their tummies, you will also feed their souls!

Contact Turquoise Blue - yes, like the color! - via email at turquoise@hartfordhabitat.org to pledge your faith organization or group's commitment to provide lunches for our crews.

HABITAT WORLD WEEK: What does home mean to you?
They say that "a picture is worth a thousand words" - so we asked Hartford Habitat families to have their children 'draw' the answer to this question.

Priscilla P. of Hartford, age 9, submitted this entry. Click on the image and you will see how the importance of a home translates in the eyes of a child. It's all a matter of perspectives and thrugh Priscilla's eyes, we get a glimpse of what really matters and how this affects her life.

Let's hear it for the boys!
Several volunteers from the Hartford Fire Department joined us on Pliny Street in Hartford on Tuesday, September 21.  Deputy Chief John Mahoney coordinated the build with the staff at Hartford Habitat to bring the firefighters to the site. The volunteers came from different units throughout the City to help with some of the siding. We look forward to seeing the boys (and the girls) again soon at the worksite! See our photo album on Facebook.

FAN PAGE vs. PROFILE PAGE
Facebook Like Button
In the next few weeks, we will be moving all our digital files from our Profile Page to our Fan Page on Facebook.  Since Hartford Habitat is an organization, it is best for us to have our friends follow us and post to our Fan Page as opposed to our Profile, which is best suited for individuals.  Keep on liking us, 'cause we like you too!  (Like)

PARTNERS IN EMPOWERMENT: ING
Over the course of the summer, dozens of employees from the Windsor branch of ING braved the sweltering heat and humidity in order to help build two new Habitat homes-one in New Britain, and one in Hartford. This month, we salute ING and the hundreds of volunteers!

See some of ING's volunteers in action via our photo album on Facebook!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: HABITAT STORE
Beginning on October 14, the store in New Britain will be opening on Thursdays from 10am until 8pm.  This presents a need for volunteers to help at the cash register, stock the shelves and help with inventory, especially during the later hours (between 4-8pm) and on Saturdays.  Please contact Rose Vigdal, our Store Manager, if you're available to help in the store at
rose@hartfordhabitat.org or 860-827-5291.  ========================================================

Yes, it is a roof

up in the air! Our "East of the River Weekday Saints" have done it again.  Check this cool video to see this super-smart, highly trained crew lift the roof on 2 West Clay.
If you are like us, you probably like taking pictures of your friends or have pictures taken of you doing all-things-Habitat.  If so, we'd love to show the world - and our friends - the great work you're doing!
