Greetings!
Here, there, everywhere: that's where we've been in May! The National Women Build Week, the Build-A-Thon and the first ever Habitat Family Day Picnic are all the results of months of preparation. Our staff and volunteers worked diligently on these events over the winter months and the end-result is a true testimony of our commitment to Hartford Habitat's mission to end poverty housing.
From all of us at Hartford Habitat, we hope you enjoy a safe red, white and blue weekend as you celebrate Memorial Day.

Habitat participated in the 2010 National Women Build Week, which

Raising Awareness + Raising Funds! Spotlight on community initiatives

May 6 - MCC Campus Chapter Fundraiser
For 24 hours, students from the Manchester Community College Habitat for Humanity Club and Chapter participated in "Tent City" on the front lawn of Manchester Community College. Students were responsible for building their own shelter, finding food, staying warm and keeping themselves busy during the day. The event, held in order to raise awareness of homelessness throughout the student body and community, also raised funds for our Affiliate which is part of the Chapter's covenant. May 7 - Lucy Kaplansky and Hugh Blumenfeld performed at the University of Hartford. A percentage of the concert's proceeds went to our Affiliate. Thanks to the UHart's Music for a Change for organizing this event and please, visit Music for a Change to see their line-up. May 16 - VOCE raised over $3,000 for our Affiliate during their performance at Immanuel Congregational Church earlier this month. Visit www.voceinc.org to see their perspectives about their experience in the "Sure on this Shining Night" video. May 22 - First Baptist Church of West Hartford held a concert called "The Road Home" last weekend where members from the community donated to our Affiliate. Please visit their website at www.fbcwesthartford.comFrom our families, staff, board and volunteers: THANK YOU! We are very grateful for everything you all have done for our affiliate! |
