Habitat Happenings e-newsletter
January 2010
Greetings!

Habitat HaitiIt is now nearly two weeks since the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.  All throughout the world, people from all walks of life have come together to respond to this disaster.  Our Habitat network of volunteers and donors have also stepped forward to help those affected by the disaster.

Habitat for Humanity has already started organizing the support from donors, volunteers, corporate partners and other community organizations to help our sister affiliate in Haiti. Monetary donations are being collected online.

If you prefer to mail your donation, please send your check to:

BUILD-A-THON 2010
BAT Funding Progress ThermometerHelp Us Reach Our Goal!

The 2010 Build A Thon is quickly approaching!

The Build-A-Thon is a week-long building blitz and is one of our biggest fundraisers for 2010.  This annual event is in its 17th year, and is designed to bring together individuals, faith groups, corporations, small businesses and foundations throughout the greater Hartford community in order to build simple, decent, affordable housing for people in need.

This year, our goal is to build three homes on Sexton Street in New Britain and engage 50 volunteers a day in the struggle to eliminate poverty and sub-standard housing.  The need for affordable housing is greater than ever, and it is imperative that people living and working in the capitol region come together to create change for the families, neighborhoods, and communities in which we all serve.

Find out how you can register as an individual or a group and help us raise $100,000.00 to build safe, decent affordable housing!  Click Here

Private Capital Group and St. Mary Church TeamIn 2003, Father Metzler of St. Mary's Church in Simsbury approached Bill Rabbit of Private Capital Group(PCG) in West Hartford about how to get involved with their volunteer group that builds with Hartford Habitat for Humanity.  That year, St. Mary's Church and Private Capital Group joined forces to participate in Habitat's annual Build A Thon, an event that PCG had already been supporting for years. Read more!
