We are pleased to bring you the first edition of Habitat Happenings, our online newsletter. Starting in July, the newsletter will go out on the last Tuesday of every month.

A sure way to earn an "A"!
Back in early May, Washington Montessori School gave a community service project to their students. One particular 7th grader, Dov Dougherty, chose to raise money and awareness on behalf of Hartford Habitat for Humanity.

QUICK (REALLY QUICK!) UPDATES Many things are taking place - get involved today!
The Interfaith Event held on June 30 at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church in Hartford was a great success! Thanks to our Friends of Abraham, there were over 50 participants who joined together for peace building, dialogue, and fun!
Construction on the House of Abraham Two has begun. Faith groups have joined to build this house of faith, and construction is off to a great start! We are at 50% of our fund-raising goal of $100,000. Please consider getting involved today!
The Women Build Fund-Raising Committee has begun its Ten Week Campaign to raise $25,000. Donations of all amounts are welcome. When making a donation, please make note that your donation is intended for the Women Build Campaign.

You will be hearing more about Building on Faith Days in the upcoming weeks. We appreciate our faith groups for their unwavering support and dedication to our mission of eliminating substandard housing in our communities. |
SHED RAFFLE To benefit Hartford Habitat
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Enfield is sponsoring a raffle to benefit our Affiliate.
The prize is one (1) custom built 8' x 8' Garden Shed (Delivery included)
The drawing will be held on August 30, 2009 at 11am at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 383 Hazard Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082. The winner does not need to be present to win.
Ticket cost: $5.00

Maureen Basney - Office Volunteer
Maureen is an office angel who has been volunteering in our office on several projects. She is dedicated to coming into the office every week, working on whatever projects we ask her to tackle. We look forward to seeing her each week and appreciate her accomplishments, which save us lots of time and help make our life here at Hartford Habitat more pleasant and much more efficient! Thank You Maureen for all of your hard work and dedication!
The Gengras Team - Unified In Strength
The Gengras Kids are a group of friendly, young students who attend the Gengras Center at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford. The students frequently lend a hand at the Hartford affiliate to perform landscaping, painting, moving furniture, and cleaning up, among many other projects.
