  April 2010

Greetings!

It's the event we've all been waiting for: the official launch of At Home on the Sound. I hope to see you as we celebrate on May 16th (see below for details).

It has taken more than two years of planning, studying and hard work to reach this milestone. But the doors to At Home on the Sound's Resource Center are now open and we have activities planned that will bring us together throughout the summer. We've also entered into agreements with many service providers and have volunteers ready to help those who need transportation, with chores around the house and technology.

More than 100 of your friends and neighbors have pitched in to help us reach this day. Please join us to see the fruit of all their work.

With excitement,

Lynn Reichgott, President
Mark your calendar for May 16th
We've planned a great celebration for our official launch, which will be held at Mamaroneck United Methodist Church, 546 Boston Post Road, just across the parking lot from the building housing our Resource Center.

We'll have light refreshments at 3 and a program beginning at 3:30 p.m. Please join us and learn about what At Home on the Sound has planned.

Note: Those who join At Home on the Sound at the launch will receive special inaugural discounted rates.
Preserving our community for all generations
The Friends of the Larchmont Public Library are hosting a panel discussion exploring the new grassroots efforts to help older residents remain independent in their homes. The president and a board member of At Home on the Sound are among the speakers.

The program will be this Sunday, April 11, at Larchmont Temple, corner of Larchmont and Willow Avenues. It begins with a reception at 3:30, followed by the program at 4 p.m.

The panelists are:
  • Valerie O'Keeffe, supervisor,Town of Mamaroneck, on why this program is needed here.
  • Rob Waldman, president and CEO, Center for Aging in Place Support, on what is happening across the country and in the County.
  • Lois Steinberg, Ph.D., At Home on the Sound, on why this has become a national grassroots movement.
  • Lynn Reichgott, president, At Home on the Sound, on what is happening in Larchmont and Mamaroneck.
Interested in volunteering?
Whether you have an hour to spare or can devote more time, At Home on the Sound has a place for you!

Volunteers help in the office, visit members in their homes, drive members to medical appointments and take them on errands, help members in their garden and lead neighborhood walks.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact us at 914 899-3150 or athomeinfo@athomeonthesound.org or visit our website for more information.
Still needed...
Our Resource Center is quickly becoming a beehive of activity, but there are still a few things which we need in order to function effectively.

We're hoping we can get most of these through donations, so please, take a look at this list, and send an email or give us a call, 914 899-3150 to let us know. You will of course receive a tax receipt for your donation.
