Halberstadt's on Broadway to Open at 102 Broadway

Halberstadt's Menswear, a leading menswear store in the Midwest, announced today that it will open a store in downtown Fargo. Halberstadt's on Broadway will open at 102 Broadway in mid- to late November. This new location adds to the company's presence in Fargo: Halberstadt's At The Mall has operated within West Acres Shopping Center since the early '90s.

"We've been planning to add a Galleria location in Fargo for quite some time and were waiting for the right location for this type of store," said Tim Halberstadt, co-owner of Halberstadt's Menswear. "When 102 Broadway became available, that was it."

"We love the energy and the vibe of downtown Fargo," continued Halberstadt. "The prime location amongst other retailers, business offices and residences can't be beat."

Halberstadt's has signed a 10-year lease with Kilbourne Group, the company that owns the building at 102 Broadway. The building's other occupants include Arthur Ventures, Intelligent InSites, Land Elements, Loyalty Builders, Odney, Outermost Layer, Polished Nail Spa and Kilbourne Group. Kilbourne Group, founded in 2006, is committed to the revitalization, smart growth and redevelopment of downtown Fargo.

"We're ecstatic to welcome Halberstadt's to 102 Broadway," said Doug Burgum, founder and chairman of Kilbourne Group. "We admire their belief in and commitment to downtown Fargo and look forward to their continued success."

The downtown store - located at the corner of Broadway and First Avenue North - is expected to employ six people. Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Halberstadt's on Broadway will be managed by Barry Gruchow, managing partner of Halberstadt's Menswear.

"Thanks to Fargo's thriving economy and strong consumer base, we're thrilled to have the opportunity to provide an even greater selection of unique men's clothing available at two separate locations in Fargo," said Halberstadt.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS SENSATIONALIZE THE LIBRARY

On October 17 - October 23, North Dakota State University's third-year landscape architecture students, taught by Professor Stevie Famulari, will transform the entrances of the Fargo Public Library into two different sensory experiences, titled 'Exist. Observe. Compose.' and 'Avenues to Illumination'.

Both designs explore the five senses: sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste. And yet, they each do it quite uniquely.

From the West entrance 'Exist. Observe. Compose.' takes visitors on a sensory walk through the history of Fargo. Sounds and scents engulf people in five different phases as they move throughout the entry hallway. The scents conjure memories in a person's mind. These memories invoke the need to communicate. All persons will be welcome to share their thoughts on the project as well as their personal memories of libraries through a comment podium.

At the East entrance visitors encounter three metaphors of a prism. 'Avenues to Illumination.' represents the desire for knowledge, the entrance of the library, and the rewards to be found within it. Bright colored spotlights reflect off prisms suspended from the ceiling drawing.
