Dear Friends... The Third Annual General Membership Meeting and Board of Directors Election of the Friends Group will be held March 26th at the Savannah NWR Visitor Center.
Our featured speaker will be Kris Williams from The Caretta Research Project discussing "Sea Turtle Conservation and Research in Georgia". Jane Griess, Project Leader for the Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex will give her "State of the Refuges" update. Rick Shields, Friends group President, will report on the activities of the Friends group over the past year. Following the presentations, there will be "Open Mike" session for all of you to share your ideas about future projects and directions for the Friends. This input will be used to help chart our future course in our upcoming Strategic Planning Retreat. Once again we will be serving light refreshments and awarding a selection of great door prizes. As a special bonus, our book and nature store The Gator Hole will be open all day, offering a 20% discount on all merchandise. The Meeting is free and open to all, but only Friends group members are eligible to win prizes and vote for candidates to our Board of Directors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As a special treat this year, you will have an opportunity to participate in a volunteer activity at the VC. We will be completing and dedicating the Beech Hill Interpretive Trail behind the VC from Noon to 2 PM. If you wish to participate, let us know. Bring your yard-work clothes and, as a bonus, we'll feed you lunch! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
