Happy Thanksgiving from Friends of the Savannah Coastal Wildlife Refuges

Dear Friends:
Happy Thanksgiving to you all on this beautiful autumn day! I hope you are celebrating with friends and family and are awash in the warmth and fellowship of the season.
I am especially thankful this year to all of you for your support of the Friends group over the past year. It has been a very good year with our second general membership meeting, the opening of the Savannah NWR visitor center and The Gator Hole, our first annual Field Trip during Refuge Week, and our upcoming First Saturday event.
None of this would have been possible without your support, and with that support we look forward to bigger and better things in the coming year.
I would especioally like to thank our Board of Directors for all thier work : Dot Bambach, Sue Chapman, John Crawford, Twila Gray, Hunter Hurst, Pat Metz, Allyn Schneider, and Dr Wasil Khan.
Our local Fish & Wildlife Service staff have been some of our biggest boosters, including Amy Ochoa, Monica Harris, Jane Griess, Peter Range, Russ Webb, and many others.
We depend so much on our dedicated volunteers who have put in so many hours this year; Dot Bambach, Twila Gray, Stacy Toogood, Sue Chapman, Skip Schwanfelder, Charlie Haines, Walt Stein, Connie Terrell, Rosemary Matsko, and Leon Tomlinson (recently departed), and others too numerous to list.
And finally, we all owe a deep debt to those visionaries who helped give birth to the National Wildlife Refuge System, those from Theodore Roosevelt on who have fought to protect and expand the refuge system and create the legacy that we now defend.
So, have a great holiday, I look forward to working with all of you in the new year.
