This message is going out to our original members - those of you who joined the Friends group when we were little more than a vague idea in the heads of a few interested members of the organizing committee.
We have come a long way since mid 2008. We have an elected Board of Directors and Officers who meet regularly. We have signed our Memorandum of Understanding with the US Fish & Wildlife Service. We have sent representatives to five national training courses presented by F&WS and hosted a Board of Directors mentoring Session here in Savannah.
We are now planing for the Grand Opening of the Savannah NWR Visitor Center and of "The Gator Hole Nature Store", our book and gift store located in the Visitor Center. This effort requires that we invest in the equipment, fixtures, and inventory necessary to open to the public for the Grand Opening on March 6, 2010, and we are asking for your help.
Please renew your membership in the Friends group now for 2010. Better yet, renew now for 2010 AND 2011, still at the bargain rate of $15/year individual and $25/year for a family. Even better, renew now AND make a year-end tax-deductible contribution to your Friends group. A membership also makes a thoughtful gift for that someone on your list who appreciates wildlife and wild places.
